A new superyacht concept, changes in customs duties in Panama and equipment from Italwinch are the main yachting news from Interparus for December 22.
New concept motor superyacht Bullet 200
The new concept was presented by Franco Gnessi, a designer from the Italian studio Dynaship Yacht Design. The concept will be named Bullet 200, and the length of the yacht should be about 61 meters.
Much of the exterior design is inspired by cars. There is something subtly similar to the body of a neoclassical car in its outlines. Beyond looks, the Bullet 200 aims to bring something new to this superyacht size and price range.
In addition to the interesting appearance that makes the yacht related to the automotive industry, Dynaship Yacht Design engineers continue to amaze with the environmental friendliness of the yacht. According to the company, the concept involves the creation of the most environmentally friendly yacht, even taking into account the use of a hybrid installation.
The Bullet 200 has an impressive displacement of 975 tons. At the same time, Franco Gnessi neatly and naturally hid this due to the smooth lines of the hull. Gnessy says: “The team worked to ensure that the observer's eye was not weighed down by the impressive dimensions of the yacht. As planned, externally the yacht should be quite elegant, but impressive. Well, at the concept stage, we managed to keep this idea. This boat is a refined product with impressive interior space.”
Bullet 200 will have a well-balanced balance between private and entertainment areas. On the decks, you will find a beach club aft, a jacuzzi, a pool on the main deck, as well as an impressive lounge area closer to the forecastle.
As mentioned earlier, the yacht should be an environmentally friendly vessel. The clean electricity produced by solar panels will provide more than 90 minutes of cruising at 8 knots. If we translate the hybrid installation into the so-called. “classic mode”, then 22-26 knots can be squeezed out of the yacht.
Customs news from Panama
The passage of yachts through the Panama Canal will now be subject to increased fees. From January 1, 2023, new taxes on crossing the canal are introduced. The new rules will apply for the next five years. The new amounts are relevant for small craft and yachts (sailing and motor). The fee will be calculated taking into account the displacement tonnage and the length of the yacht.
The changes will affect all yachts that are classified as “small boats”. The evaluation criteria are as follows:
- The new rates apply to all small craft with an overall length of up to 38 m (125 ft).
- Vessels over 125 feet in length, in any market segment, up to 999 tonnes PC/UMS, will be subject to Small Vessel Passage Charges over 100 feet (30.45 m) in overall length, in addition to all applicable charges. for other maritime services.
- The proposed changes to small craft duties would adjust the maximum displacement tonnage limits set in duties based on overall length (1,000 tons displacement).
- Vessels over 1,000 tons displacement will be charged based on the proposed displacement charges.
The new charges in US dollars for small boats, depending on the total length, are:
- less than 19.81 m (65 ft) - $1.760 (effective 2023), $1.935 (2024) and $2.130 (2025)
- 19.81 m - less than 24.38 m (65 ft - less than 80 ft) $2 640 (effective 2023), $2 905 (2024) and $3 200 (2025)
- 24.38 m - less than 30.48 m (80 ft - less than 100 ft) $3,850 (effective 2023), $4,235 (2024) and $4,660 (2025)
- Over 100 ft (30.48 m) $5 000 (effective 2023), $5 500 (2024) and $6 000 (2025)

New equipment from Italwinch after METS2022
The well-known company Italwinch took part in METS2022 again! The company has not missed a single METS for many years, and this year was no exception. Once the brand was created in collaboration with Orvea. Orvea specialized in thrusters and anchor winches. But more than ten years ago, Orvea was taken over by MZ Elettronic, which was engaged in electronic equipment.
Over time, the acquisition benefited both companies. The Italwinch by Orvea range now includes more than 30 families of mechanical mooring products, a full range of electronic accessories and the ability to manufacture custom solutions in both electronic and mechanical areas.
Italwinch, of course, makes most of its profits in Italy. However, at the exhibition this year, many models of equipment were presented that will interest many buyers far beyond Italy.
The most popular products of the company were winches, various control panels, chargers. One of the most popular was WWHC040. This is a device for all occasions - in one case both a thruster on a wireless charger and a radio meter are placed.
In addition, the range of winches has also been updated. Italwinch set to work on the conversion of small winches at a power of 50-1500 watts. Among the winches, Orchid distinguished itself - a winch made of stainless steel. According to the company itself, this model is ideal for boats up to 22 meters long.
The parent company MZ Elettronic also acquired the new firm Progetto Elica. With the help of Italwinch and Progetto Elica, the parent company is going to focus on new thrusters of various types, shafts, rudders. This time the focus will be on the 45m (150ft) boats.
