Despite its fantastic location on the Adriatic coast and proximity to Greece, Montenegro, Croatia and Italy, there are currently no yacht marinas in Albania.

Porto albania
Swiss construction company Finsec AG decided to change this and lay the foundation for Porto albania on the peninsula Kalaja e Turresless than an hour's drive from the only international airport Tirana, and 20 minutes from the port Durres.
The harbor will be ideally located for both north and south travel, as well as a stopover en route to Croatia, Greece or Italy. The port of Budva in Montenegro is 70 nautical miles away and Corfu is about 90 miles.

Porto Albania project definitely ambitious and places Albania on the world map as the next luxury getaway destination. The advantage is also that payments for parking spaces, fuel and services such as boat repairs and duty-free trade will be set without taxes.
Taking into account the rich cultural and historical heritage of the country, archaeologists explored an area of 20 hectares to ensure that all important artifacts were recovered, before the construction of the future marina began. 2,400 artifacts were discovered and recovered and cataloged. After a peer review confirmed that there are no more cultural sites in the area, the Albanian government granted final permits for the development of the area.

Under the direction of Finsec AG and an Albanian subsidiary Finsec Port Sh.a. Tirana, construction companies will begin the first phase, which includes development of more than 55,000 square meters of land allocated for infrastructure. They will also install a breakwater over 800 meters long and a harbor wall to create a sufficiently sheltered space.
After completion of construction Porto albania will provide 690 berths accommodating yachts up to 70 meters in length, as well as a VIP yacht club for superyachts, with a helipad.
Designed by a leading architecture firm in Madrid Arquitectos the marina's infrastructure will include a 5-star hotel with 146 rooms, luxury villas with private parking spaces, more than 250 apartments, multi-storey parking, shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, a congress center, a spa, a golf course with two 18 - moonlit rounds, and more than 90 leisure activities - from cycling to mountaineering, water skiing and horse riding.

It is also planned to open a family resort with sandy beaches, a water park, thermal springs, a botanical garden, olive plantations and a complete infrastructure that will satisfy all the needs of guests and provide many opportunities for people of all ages, 365 days a year.
Project cost Porto albania is 112 million euros, making it the largest investment in the history of the Albanian tourism sector, and opening is planned for 2019.
