“There must be order,” says a German proverb. The issue of order is especially acute on board the yacht. Interparus shares tips for keeping order!
Ordnung muss sein
“There must be order,” is the translation of the German proverb from the title of this section. Maintaining order on board your yacht is one of the most important conditions for a comfortable cruise. Your cruise should be pleasant and rewarding, fun and soulful, but not accompanied by any mess on board.
Each skipper and crew has their own understanding of the order on board, but we have selected a few universal rules that will make life easier for all crew members on board. After all, order begins with each of us! And, first of all, from the organizer of the cruise and the skipper.
Forget big suitcases
These are large hard suitcases. It seems that such suitcases can hold more things, but when it comes to traveling on a yacht, such suitcases are very impractical. Every cubic centimeter of free space is on board the roads, and such suitcases usually take up a lot of usable space.
Instead, it is better to use soft folding luggage or a bag. Such a bag can be easily folded and stored under the bed (or in another secluded place). This will help save space in your cabin or in the common luggage locker.

A single product list to rule them all!
When shopping for groceries or additional equipment, often after going to the store you can find an excess of some goods and a shortage of others.
How to avoid it? Make a comprehensive single list with which you will go to storm the nearest supermarket. To do this, you need to create the desired menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, the portion sizes should be specified. It is important not to forget that the refrigerator is not dimensionless. Perishable products also cannot be bought for more than 2-3 days.
If several crew members are involved in the purchase, then agree in advance who and what will buy. Even better is to distribute the types of goods between you. Someone will buy meat, someone will buy vegetables, someone will buy spices, etc.
There is not much free space
Sometimes it seems that there is very little space on board to store supplies. Indeed, the yacht is not at all like your home. But there are still many lockers and secluded places on board where you can store your belongings or supplies. And with the basic experience of playing Tetris, you will also be able to not only neatly, but also practically put everything in its place.
Beware of kitchen utensils!
Kitchenware is a separate wonderful world. On each yacht, they can be quite different. This is especially noticeable on charter yachts and catamarans. It would be nice to have a minimal set of your own cutlery with you just in case.
Plastic food containers will also find their way on board the yacht. You can not only store leftover food in them, but also transport food much easier and more accurately. Cling film and foil will help to transport food more safely.
As for knives, it is best to store them away in a protected place. On yachts, accidents happen surprisingly often due to falling objects at the most unexpected moment. An accidental roll can cause that tower of pans in the sink to fly around the cabin. The same is true for knives. Keep this in mind.
And do not forget about detergents and liquid oils - remove them from the table in advance before going to sea.
Adhesive tape and tape
Surprisingly successful invention, which was appreciated by the sailors. Adhesive surface (tape) helps keep your glass glasses and mugs secure even when tilted heavily. Such a thing is relatively inexpensive, but it saves your nerves and money.
As for adhesive tape, it is also an indispensable thing on board. Scotch tape (like electrical tape) is a versatile tool. Fix the flag, carry out emergency repairs to the antenna, secure the sharp part of the handrail - the list of possible uses for duct tape and electrical tape is almost endless.
Fruit storage
You can store fruits in the refrigerator. What about fruit hanging net? Great idea! Experienced sailors note that this is a good solution for saloons of any size. Also, the fruit net allows you to keep all the fruits in one place, and not collect them all over the cabin.
In addition, such a device will add an exotic entourage. Such a grid will become not only an interesting interior detail, but also a practical solution for storing fruits and some vegetables.
