French yachtsman Yvan Bournion has the intention to take on a new business: he decided to take part in voluntary funding for the construction of a giant quadromaran designed to clean the ocean from the plastic waste that floods it.
Manta, future ocean cleaner quadromaran Ivana Bournion, got its name from the stingray, an animal that is distinguished by its ability to filter water.
Ivan Bournion (Yvan Bourgnon) decided to take up this project after making his travels on the ocean, he more than once came across various unidentified objects.
Directly in 2015, the ship on which he participated in the Transatlantic Crossing collided with a container, forcing him to change course.
Faced in such a wild way with ocean pollution during this crossing, as well as on the occasion of his recent trip around the world, Ivan Bournion decided to act.

There will be as many fish in the oceans as there is plastic in 2050!
Ivan Bournion stated on the website Water News: 8 to 10 million tons of plastic is dumped into the oceans every year. Part of this huge floating waste is crushed by waves and sunlight, turning into the smallest (micro-waste), then into even smaller grains (nano-waste), similar to marine organisms, and affecting the entire marine food chain. By 2055, the amount of plastic waste dumped into the sea may increase by 10 times. At this rate of growth, in 2050 there will be as much waste as fish in the ocean depths!
The sailor creates an organization "Cleaners of the sea"through which it begins to act; it is representing this organization that he proposes to start building a revolutionary new yacht "Manta", the purpose of which is to collect plastic waste. The voluntary fundraising campaign kicks off today, October 14th, and this will be the start of a new project.

Most of the world's plastic waste ends up in global water pollution
Manta is a unique quadromaran!
This vessel was designed with the aim of collecting plastic waste directly near the source of their release, that is, near the coast. Indeed, only a floating craft provides the necessary mobility to move quickly to some islands of plastic waste created by winds and currents, before they turn into continents of plastic waste. This mobility also makes it possible to operate on the high seas, where the depths of the sea make it impossible to anchor a vessel where an accidentally lost container can throw its cargo out of various plastics.

As for the principle of movement, "Manta" equipped with a set of peculiar kites - kites, combined with a rigging that supports classic sails, to which is also added a hybrid engine block, which allows you to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to the very minimum.
