Several years ago, in order to expand its model line, as well as to develop in the charter area, the German shipyard Bavaria, well known for its monohull yachts, took the bold step of acquiring the French yacht builder Nautitech, which specialized in catamarans. To date, the collaboration of both shipyards has created three catamarans: a 40-foot, 54-foot and their latest 46-foot model, the Bavaria Nautitech 46 Fly.

Cruising catamaran with flybridge Bavaria Nautitech 46 Fly

Unsurprisingly, the centerpiece of the design is flybridgewhich is becoming more and more popular with cruising catamarans. While it may look awkward on some boats, it is not on this catamaran designed by Mark Lombard.
Flybridge integrated with the overhanging cockpit roof, the front of which has an arch over the large saloon windows, while the aft section provides deck seating and a rigid bimini over the wide open cockpit that encompasses ample space, providing shade and shelter.
This design trick creates a streamlined look. So, visually, the only thing that looks a little out of place is the boom that rises very high above the waterline for comfortable laying of the mainsail. This is a compromise the designers wanted to make in exchange for an impressively sized helm station that also includes plenty of resting space.
You can get to the flybridge by a small ladder. Steering wheel slightly offset to the port side. The helmsman's seat is equipped with a movable backrest for fixing the seat in any direction. There is also a U-shaped sofa with raised backs, bordering the flybridge, which can accommodate up to 20 guests and converts into a chaise longue.
Most of the lines are directed towards the helm station with a set of winches Lewmar and related couplings Spinlock... Unusually, the genoa sheets are not directed towards the helm, but towards the installation with main winches on either side of the cockpit, which complicates the process. Also available is a small rigid helm bridge kit.

Downstairs, when the large sliding door is open, the saloon merges completely with the cockpit. The LED lights built into the bimini are a welcome addition. The space is also equipped with an L-shaped sofa on the port side, a second long sofa to starboard and a third one located at the end of the aft cockpit.
The cabin also has a stand-up nav, refrigerator, freezer and sinks. Further, a U-shaped spacious galley with a dining area. The entire interior space is filled with natural light.

Charter version the yacht includes 4 separate cabins, two in each hull. Shared showers are located between the cabins.
Individual version includes a large cabin that completely occupies one catamaran hull.
On deck, the trampolines have cushion inserts for sunbathing, adding even more seating areas on board.
This model includes a Cummins generator, full air conditioning and electric winches. Double staysail with fixed bowsprit for Code Zero or asymmetric spinnaker, as well as a traditional genoa on its own forler.
Bavaria Nautitech 46 Fly has huge space and comfort, and is able to make dreams of the most distant travels come true.
