Designers BorromeodeSilva from Milan took this canoe with passion to create a truly unique object. They were driven by the idea that a luxury object can exist on its own, that it exists not only to solve a problem, but justifies its existence with a visual proposal.
Canoe Monocoque - BorromeodeSilva
When designing canoes, Italians wanted to demonstrate their ability to combine traditional craftsmanship with high-tech processes and materials. Canoe hull Monocoque Made of copper-braided carbon fiber, with a classic teak finish.
Canoe Monocoque - BorromeodeSilva
Copper wire woven in carbon gives depth to texture and shimmers in sunlight, bringing surfaces to life, mimicking the shimmering sun reflecting on the water of a canoe that's poetic in its creation, yet technically strong, durable and lightweight. Teak surfaces are handmade Maestri d'Ascia, one of the oldest and most revered crafts in Genoa. Streamlined design provides space to hide paddles on the sides, paying tribute to the fins Cadillac.
For non-Italian specialists, the boat is made of Opera Viva and Opera Morta... For others, this is the difference between the top of the boat and the draft, and in this they were helped by advice Federico santa maria, friend and veteran of yachting design.
This project includes many values that support BorromeodeSilva: technologies that serve beauty, collaboration between industries and edgy aesthetics. The designers are currently working on the integration of a small electric motor, and who knows, maybe one day one unique design object will move to industrialization.
