The Norwegian start-up is promoting transport links with electric mini-ferries operated by autopilot.
Norwegian University of Science and Technology - The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) founded a new company called Zeabuz... The goal of the new startup is to sell transportation services to coastal city residents using autonomous ferries, which will be small, electrically driven and run on the basis of each customer's request.
“Autopilots fit electrically powered ferries like gloves. This ensures better control, optimal operation, safety and cost-effective maintenance, ”says director of research center for autonomous maritime mobility NTNU Asgeir J. Sørensen.

“We own the world's most advanced self-driving ferry transport solutions. Our ferries independently separate from other ships at sea, maneuver perfectly and easily moor to the berths, ensuring safe disembarkation and embarkation of passengers, ”says Susanne Jäschke, CEO of the company Zeabuz.
She said that all the work on testing two prototypes in Trondheim are carried out under the supervision of the classification register DNV, GL, the Norwegian Coastal Administration and the Norwegian Maritime Directorate.
"Unique technology developed by NTNU and handed over to our company for practical use, ”said Suzanne.
