Why autumn?

In fact, autumn is quite a popular time for yachting, especially the first third of it. The answer is very simple - the summer season is always crowded marinas and ports, the beaches are not overcrowded, and places on the piers must be booked six months in advance. Autumn gives yachtsmen the opportunity to breathe a little and take a breath.

In almost all directions, autumn is marked by a calm and a decrease in the number of yachts in the sea. Let's take a look at some of these areas!

Holidays in Turkey

Turkey is a great option, probably for everyone. An excellent holiday destination in all seasons with a pleasant climate and fantastic sailing opportunities. The main two directions are the Aegean and Turkish Riviera. 

In addition to the fact that both there and there there are many quiet and secluded bays, quite large cities are also scattered along the entire coast. The biggest plus of yachting in Turkey is the temperature regime. In October, the average temperature up to 26 degrees Celsius is normal.

Daylight hours will also allow you to relax under sail longer, because it is almost 11 hours. For sailing enthusiasts, the wind speed is 15-20 knots.

Seychelles

The Seychelles (Seychelles) is often referred to as one of the most beautiful archipelagos in the world. It consists of 115 islands that are scattered in the Indian Ocean north of Madagascar. 

The main island of the Seychelles is Mahe. It is the capital of the Republic of the Seychelles - Victoria. Interestingly, Victoria is one of the smallest capitals in the world. In addition to exotic species, yachtsmen are drawn here by the ecosystem.

More than 275 species of birds, 2,200 giant tortoises and dozens of species of mammals coexist on the islands. Many endemic species have also been recorded in the Seychelles. Sailing through such a region is a truly amazing experience. However, this fully pays off by the fact that there are fewer amenities than in any other direction. 

But here you can swim almost all year round. But it will be especially warm in October - the average temperature is from 24 to 28 ° C. The wind here has a quite adequate and pleasant speed of + - 10 knots. But remember that the change in water level during high tide here is decent.

Seaside promenade in Malta

Not everyone knows, but Malta is not limited to the world famous island. In addition to it, the state also includes the islands of Gozo and Comino. All three islands have many secluded and beautiful bays. Gozo, for example, is famous for its green landscapes. Hikers should take note.

If you have already been to Malta, then do not forget to visit the capital of the country - Valletta. This famous old town is definitely worth a visit. But take your time and set aside a day or two for Valletta. Believe me, you will not regret the time spent here.

September-October will give visitors a mild and warm climate. 25 °C is the normal temperature for autumn in Malta. And besides, Malta is one of those regions where the number of tourists quickly decreases at the end of the summer season.

Balearic Islands (Spain)

Well, what is a selection without the Balearic Islands? Already legendary Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera are very… No, super popular destinations. If you are traveling by boat, then the number of tourists should not be a problem for you. 

However, these islands are still worth visiting. Rocky shores, pristine beaches, pleasant landscapes, historic cities - what else do you need for happiness?

The Balearic Islands are a good choice for yachtsmen who travel with large groups or families. The winds rarely rage here, so a pleasant and measured sailing is really possible here. If it is hot and dry here in summer, then by October the weather will stabilize. In autumn, the temperature in the Balearic Islands is 20-23°C. Rain is also common here.

Ionian Sea - a universal option

The Ionian Sea is quite a popular destination for lovers of relaxing cruises. In autumn it is cooler here than in Turkey, but we assure you that you will be able to soak up the sun.

Must-see islands: Corfu, Paxos, Othoni, Erycus, Ithaca, Lefkada, Zakynthos. All of them are scattered in different parts of the Ionian Sea, but why not arrange a sailing for yourself?
