The Seabin project is more than a product, the ultimate goal is "to have clean oceans for our future generations."
Seabin: small but real solution for cleaner oceans
It all started with an unbridled passion for the oceans and a firm awareness that a person who abuses consumption and improper disposal of waste is killing the most valuable natural resource. A person can regulate the activities of our world, at least to the extent that we are just beginning to realize. Why in every house, and near the house, on the streets, we put waste bins, but we do not do it for the ocean. The ocean gives us as many of its resources as we are able to take from it, and in return we only devastate and pollute it.

So, Andrew Turton and Pete Ceglinski, two avid surfers, decided to quit their job to create "Seabin"that would collect debris, plastic, cellophane, oil, fuel and detergents. To achieve their goal, they endlessly improved the device to make it accessible to as many places on the planet as possible. They also worked in parallel to educate and raise awareness so that they could one day live in a world where such devices would not be needed.
V5 Seabin is a device for intercepting dumped garbage, designed to be installed directly in the water at docks, marinas, yacht clubs, ports and in any body of water with infrastructure. Seabin can catch approximately 1.5 kg of floating debris per day, depending on the weather and the amount of garbage, or 1/2 tons of garbage per year, including microplastics up to 2 mm in size.

Water is sucked up from the surface and passed through the bag to collect inside Seabin, with a submersible water pump capable of displacing 25,000 liters per hour, plugged directly into an outlet 110/220 V. The water is then pumped back into the marina, leaving debris and debris trapped.
Waste trap can accommodate up to 20 kg of garbagebut it is recommended to check it twice a day and empty it if necessary. Seabin should be cleaned at least once a month and checked regularly to ensure functional performance. This is quite a bit of an effort considering what is at stake!
Seabin Installed in a defined “garbage problem area” such as a marina on a floating dock. This strategic positioning allows wind and currents to push debris directly towards Seabin... The current energy consumption of the water pump is around 1$.

From the very beginning, the project team Seabin knew it wasn't a solution to the problem, but in the end, learning is the real solution. Realizing this, the project Seabin developed an open educational program based on interaction with technology Seabin and without it. The project is constantly evolving as it is a new technology and a new sector in the marine and environmental industry. To stay abreast of the development of new technologies, the project Seabin offers several programs and initiatives.
Most of the microplastics found in the ocean come from larger pieces of plastic that slowly break down. The problem is so acute that even UN drew attention to “microplastics in the marine environment” calling for action through GESAMP (Group of Experts on the Scientific Aspects of the Marine Environment), and UNEP (United Nations Environment Program). Seabin is part of a real solution for the removal of microplastics from the marine environment.
"One small act, reproduced by many, brings about change, change in demand, and change in industry, for cleaner oceans."
At the moment, many caring organizations have already established Seabin in their yacht marinas around the world, for example a British company Premier Marinas, Hamilton harbor in bermuda, Portsmouth in Hampshire, Cayman Islands Yacht Club, as well as many marinas in Canada, USA, Singapore, Australia, more than 30 Seabin installed in Dubai alone, more than 50 European marinas have invested in technology and training in Britain, Finland, Ireland, France, Spain and the list is growing rapidly.
