Another crazy concept ordered? Lazzarini presented this one - Pangeos, which strikes the imagination more than all the previous creations of the studio.
A mind-blowing concept by Lazzarini
Design studio Lazzarini Design Studio continues to shock and amaze. This time they swung at something completely unimaginable - literally a floating city in the form of a giant turtle. They called this miracle of engineering Pangeos. The name, apparently, refers to the name of the ancient supercontinent, which united all the continents that now exist.
Lazzarini and her concepts are frequent guests in the lists and tops of the most strange, unusual and controversial shipbuilding ideas and solutions. She has a huge number of concepts for futuristic sea ports, flying yachts, etc.
After the announcement of Pangeos, the studio even came up with a new type of yachts - teryachts (from the Latin Terra - Earth). It is easy to guess that the distinguishing feature of such a yacht is its dimensions.
Pangeos - Turtle City
On board the Pangeos, not only thousands of guests should fit, but also the crew that will have to serve this hulk. According to the press release, the total number of people on board will be 60,000 people.
No less impressive are the dimensions of the terayacht. Pangeos will be 548 meters long and 600 meters wide. If the project is implemented, it will become the largest marine floating (!) Structure. Yes, by the way, it is planned that this hulk will move.
The hull will be made of steel and will consist of “30,000 individual pieces that will keep Pangeos afloat.” We do not yet fully understand what exactly is meant by these “parts”, but if the project is implemented, then the details will not be long in coming.
Power and capacity
Nine electric motors will be installed on board. The power of each of them will be 16,800 hp. According to the same press release, Pangeos will be able to fly almost non-stop without calling at ports. This will be possible thanks to hydro generation and solar panels. Pangeos, by the way, is positioned as an environmentally friendly yacht.
As already mentioned, up to 60,000 people can be accommodated on board the terayacht. The yacht itself is a cross between a five-star resort, a cruise ship and a small town. On board will be a shopping center, several huge pools, a beach club and much more.
There are also small moorings for boats and smaller yachts, helipads, hangars. Lazzarini herself says that this is their most ambitious project and the team understands that so far it looks like a pipe dream. The representative of the company said: “Terayacht needs a terayard. Pangeos is too big for any existing shipyard.”
So far, sheikhs from Saudi Arabia are being considered as potential investors. There are rumors that someone even agreed... According to the company's calculations, the implementation of such a project will take about 7-8 years and 8 billion dollars.
Lazzarini is currently looking for an opportunity to sponsor and raise funds for the construction of Pangeos. The studio came up with an interesting model - Pangeos launched in Metaverse. The user can purchase a cabin on Pangeos (as a 3D model in Metaverse), and the money invested will be used as collateral for the physical version of the yacht. When (rather if) Pangeos is launched, then all contributors will receive paid apartments.
