MVY is a new concept of a futuristic sailing catamaran from the DRIFT company. Interparus shares the first details about the new product!
Eco-friendly catamaran
The idea of creating a truly environmentally friendly catamaran or monohull is firmly rooted in the minds of yacht engineers. They continue to make attempts to create a “catamaran of the future”, where, in addition to environmental friendliness, modern technologies will also be used.

DRIFT Energy was no exception. Most recently, she unveiled a new sailing catamaran concept called MVY. The 58-meter catamaran is positioned as a “healthy alternative for fuel-powered ships.” MVY will be developed directly with the charter market in mind.

It’s interesting that the name MVY didn’t come out of nowhere. It's actually an acronym for "Most Valuable Yacht." This immodest name came to mind for the company’s marketers due to the fact that the catamaran is capable of generating, storing and using energy itself. Those. This is the treasured waste-free energy production for the ship.
MVY Features
Energy generation on board MVY is possible thanks to turbines that use the kinetic energy of the catamaran to generate the so-called. “green hydrogen”. In addition, the catamaran will not emit harmful substances into the atmosphere, which worsen air pollution.

MVY will be able to produce more than 150,000 kg of hydrogen per year, which will be enough not only to cover the needs of the owners, but will also make it possible to use this hydrogen for other yachts or cars.
Ben Medland, founder and CEO of DRIFT Energy, says: “Everything needed to produce clean energy and hydrogen is already in the oceans! What could be better than using sailing ships not only to consume green energy, but also to produce it?”
DRIFT Energy hopes to reduce the cost of producing hydrogen fuel for yachts. Judging by the company's statements, they have a plan according to which the increase in hydrogen production capacity through MVY-type catamarans should reduce fuel prices on a global scale. How will this work in practice? Wait and see.
