ePropulsion continues to refine its product line. Interparus will discuss the Spirit 2, a compact engine for tenders and small boats.
What is the ePropulsion Spirit 2?
The ePropulsion Spirit 2 is a portable 2 kW electric outboard motor. Its primary audience includes owners of small sailboats, tenders, RIBs, and daysailers.
Weight and power of the ePropulsion Spirit 2
Don't let the compact body and relatively low claimed power fool you—the ePropulsion Spirit 2 delivers on these claims. The Spirit 2 weighs in at just 20.6 kg.
Approximately half (10.2 kg) is the motor itself, and the other half (10.4 kg) is the lithium battery. The battery's stated capacity is 1539 Wh. The combined motor and battery weight remains within acceptable limits for onboard transportation, but may be a bit heavy for some yachtsmen.
The engine output is 2 kW. In Boost Mode, the electric motor can increase this output to 3 kW. According to BoatNews, the ePropulsion Spirit 2 can reach speeds of up to 9.5 knots on a small planing boat. In this configuration, the Spirit 2 is ideal for cruising inland waters or as a tender propulsion system.
Autonomy and operating life
According to ePropulsion itself, the motor's performance adjusts depending on conditions and loads. The stated runtime is 54 minutes at full power, 1 hour 48 minutes at half power, and 3 hours at quarter power.
Yes, the actual range will vary greatly depending on external conditions: currents, wind, hull shape, and aerodynamics. However, to counteract this, the Spirit 2 has a very important ace up its sleeve. This motor model is compatible with solar stations, chargers, and proprietary 48V replaceable batteries.
Features of the motor design
The ePropulsion Spirit 2 features a high-contrast color display, a removable handle, and a dedicated carrying handle. The transom bracket, where the motor is mounted, is also removable. These details may seem minor, but they actually make installation, storage, and transportation of the motor significantly easier.
The Spirit 2 also retains another distinctive feature of the company's previous models: quick battery installation and replacement. As before, you won't see any wires or terminals: simply attach the battery with a gentle flick of the wrist and remove it just as easily if needed.
Safety and Range of the ePropulsion Spirit 2
For added safety, the Spirit 2 features an emergency shut-off feature. Additionally, you can lock the controls in an emergency or if you lose control. The motor itself can tilt up to 90° on its mounting bracket. The Spirit 2 can also be used as a charger, not just a motor. It features a 45W USB Type-C port.
The ePropulsion Spirit 2, as mentioned earlier, is compatible with other ePropulsion accessories, including the 48-volt charging platform, E-series batteries, solar panels, and remote control systems. The motor is scheduled to go on sale in spring 2026. Currently, the Spirit 2 sits next in the overall model lineup after the Spirit 1.0 Evo, boasting improved performance (power, ergonomics) and a simplified charging process.
Who should pay attention to Spirit 2?
The Spirit 2 is best suited for inflatable boats, small RIBs, and motor and sailboats up to 8 meters in length. Increased interest in the engine is expected from boat rental companies and yacht clubs (for installation on maneuverable tenders).

I agreed with this development of events. I was seven and wanted to see dolphins, ru
