The smallest and most affordable electric outboard motor available today is the eLite from ePropulsion. Interparus shares details about the new product.
Electric motors to the masses
In January 2024, ePropulsion, a company specializing in the development of electric motors, announced a new eLite motor. This engine is designed for small boats and tenders. According to the manufacturer, it opens a new era in the world of outboard electric motors.

Danny Tao, co-founder and CEO of ePropulsion, says, “With innovative features and sustainability principles, we believe eLite will redefine eco-friendly boating for enthusiasts.”
The engine is equipped with direct drive and a propeller with an improved design. Thanks to the efforts of ePropulsion engineers, the eLite has been significantly reduced in size, making it so compact that it can easily be placed in a bag and carried with you.
Technical features of eLite
The eLite electric outboard has a power output of 500 watts. The motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery, which can be charged in several ways. So, eLite can be charged from:
- AC mains 110/220 V
- DC 12 V (from the battery on the yacht)
- solar battery

The charging process takes about 4 hours. The eLite engine also features a USB-C port for charging mobile devices.
The engine offers two control modes:
- Sports mode increases power to 750 W. This allows you to reach speeds of up to 8 km/h. The operating time will be 45 minutes, and the range will be 5.6 km.
- Economy mode allows you to extend the operating time up to one and a half hours. The power is reduced to 250 W, and the range increases to 10 km.

Despite the apparent modesty of the figures, the eLite is aimed at use with tenders and dinghies, providing sufficient power for everyday tasks.
Compact and convenient eLite
The eLite electric motor is deservedly considered the most compact in its class. Its weight is only 6.7 kg excluding the bracket, while the device is about 30 cm long, 7.5 cm wide, and 89 cm high.
The unique mounting system allows the eLite to be easily mounted on a tender or small boat. Additional convenience is provided by the tiller, covered with anti-slip material, which guarantees a secure grip. The tiller has an adjustable tilt angle and variable handle length, which can be adjusted to the user's needs.

On the top of the eLite there is a small display that informs you about the battery charge and its status. IP67 protection provides reliable protection against water ingress, and the aircraft-grade aluminum body ensures strength and durability.
As such, the eLite offers the perfect combination of compactness, convenience and quality, making it an excellent choice for environmentally conscious sailors and those looking for value for money. The cost of the device will be €1089.
