The Dufour Yachts brand continues to work on expanding its model line. Interparus will tell you about the shipyard's new 15-meter yacht – Dufour 48.
The Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 and Le Grand Pavois exhibitions had barely died down when the Dufour Yachts shipyard was in a hurry to please us with a fresh new product. This time, the shipyard presented the successor to the Dufour 470 model, which received the laconic name Dufour 48.

Traditionally, we will learn more details about the yacht closer to the exhibition in Dusseldorf, where the first live presentation of the boat will probably take place. In the meantime, let's take a closer look at the first official images of the Dufour 48.
Deck and cockpit of Dufour 48
The yacht is 15 meters long, which means that the architects and designers had plenty of room to roam. Visually and aesthetically, the deck and the entire above-water part look nice. The neat lines of the hull refer to the classic appearance of Dufour yachts, large windows on both sides fit well into the "ensemble" and do not stand out from the overall style. The deck is spacious, which allows for a relaxation area on the bow, between the end of the roof of the wheelhouse and the forestay.

The steps leading to the cockpit are wide enough. At the stern are two steering wheels, right behind them are comfortable folding benches with cushions for the skipper. As in Dufour 44, benches cover the descent to the transom bathing platform. By folding the platform, the owner will be able to use a full-fledged galley.
There are two tables directly in the cockpit. Large longitudinal benches on both sides of the cockpit are perfect for dining al fresco in the company of all the guests of the yacht. Judging by the images, the tables can be lowered a little, organizing additional seats. It is possible to install a full-fledged rigid bimini above the cockpit and control stations.

Those same tables that transform into places to relax
The number and configuration of winches will apparently depend on the version of the yacht. Let's assume that, as with other yachts of the shipyard, there will be three versions of the Dufour 48: Easy, Performance and Ocean.
Interior and salon Dufour 48
Dufour 44 showed that interior design really does matter. But what awaits us in the Dufour 48? The most noticeable feature of the 44th model – the hexagonal table – has migrated to the new model. However, unlike the Dufour 44, here the table and U-shaped sofa are located on the starboard side. The galley is located on the port side and also has two configurations.

In the first configuration, the galley is longitudinal. All the advantages of a classic large galley are available in this version: plenty of work space, more accessible lockers and cupboards for storing dishes and kitchen utensils... The second configuration has been transferred almost unchanged from Dufour 44, namely a short “bow” galley with an additional sofa on the port side.

The longitudinal galley version offers a large hexagonal table and an enlarged U-shaped sofa, while the compact galley offers the option of moving some of the kitchen equipment to the starboard side.

Several layout options are also available. Thus, there is a version with 1 master cabin, 2 aft cabins and a longitudinal or short galley, and a version with four cabins (2 forward and 2 aft) with the same choice of galleys. The presence of a skipper's cabin is declared. The combination of bathrooms is also adjusted by the owner.
Conclusions on Dufour 48
The announcement of the Dufour 48 came as a pleasant surprise against the backdrop of its relatively recent premiere Dufour 44. The new boat arrived quickly, which means the shipyard is not stopping and continues to develop its model range. It is also important that the new product will replace the 470th model. For a long time, the Dufour 470 remained one of the shipyard's most popular boats, but its time has come.

The cockpit and steering posts pleased me – Dufour continues to experiment with ergonomics, while remaining within the framework of its style. I would definitely like to note the idea with the lowering tables, which turn into an extension of the sofas. The aft mini-galley has proven itself well Dufour 44.
It is difficult to say anything about the interior at this stage. It looks stylish and expensive as always. The abundance of natural light, the spacious master cabin and the additional skipper's cabin look decent. At the same time, the layout of the short galley may not suit everyone.
Judging by the images, the Dufour 48 will again not have a separate navigation table. At the same time, a full-fledged large VHF station will appear on the wall near the skipper's cabin. We will see its functionality during the live shows.
