An interesting new project is a yacht called JV60, which will be built for Jack Setton. Interparus shares the first details about the monohull!
New yacht for an unusual customer
In the minds of many yachtsmen, the idea has taken root that almost all yachts are the brainchild of the design genius of engineers and experienced shipbuilders. While this is true for the vast majority of new projects, there are notable exceptions.

Jack Setton is one of the most famous owners of large yacht fleets. Jack not only finances the production and improvement of his yachts, but also takes a direct part in their creation. In addition, Setton supports many innovative projects.
Jack has been in the yachting industry for over 40 years. During this time, a huge number of yachts passed through it, among which were both motor and sailing ones. More recently, Jack ordered another yacht called the JV60. The new creation will also feature technological sophistication.
JV60 - the best of previous Setton yachts
Interestingly, Jack himself positions his new 60-foot (18-meter) yacht as a “big dayseler”. The owner searched for a suitable hull and sail form factor for a long time, until he realized that “the main criterion is the pleasure of control.”

Some yachting publications are already comparing the JV60 with another Setton yacht, the Ciao Gianni. She was designed and launched in 2010 by the company of the famous designer German Frers. Why do many people see similarities between the JV60 and Ciao Gianni? Both yachts are designed for comfortable sailing and have almost the same dimensions and displacement. Moreover, visually the two yachts are also clearly designed in very similar styles. The new JV60, after launching, will plow the expanses of the Mediterranean Sea in the Sardinia region.
Another yacht that inspired the JV60 was the 10m Paja, designed by Paolo Bua. Jack himself says this about Paja: “I really liked Paja ... [Despite the size] she had a very large and spacious deck. And I dreamed of doing something similar, but on a 60-foot yacht.”
JV60 features
Despite the fact that the dimensions of the yacht (18 meters in length) made it possible to make a large cockpit, according to Setton's idea, the steering station had to be small. Jack himself speaks of the dimensions of the cockpit in this way: “Being at the helm, I want to see the nose, not the guests.”

The JV60 is designed in such a way that it can be operated both alone and with a full-fledged team. Much of the JV60's body is made from carbon fiber. The keel on the yacht is fixed. There are also electric winches on deck for the automatic staysail.
Setton says: “This is not a revolutionary boat, it just perfects all the features of a classic fixed keel sailing yacht.”
