Balt 27 - a small boat with great possibilities
New times dictate new requirements. Small yacht owners want to have all the power of a large cruiser. But they also don't want to have the high cost of owning a yacht. The Balt 27 trailer size, with its clever design and excellent finish, makes it possible to combine this.

Test drive of the yacht Balt 27
Six months ago, I learned that the Polish shipyard Balt-Yacht will build a yacht under its own brand. This news intrigued me at once. Shipyard Balt-Yacht one of the largest and oldest enterprises in Poland, until recently they built small boats for Jeanneau, 35 and 45 models for X-Yachts, several models are now being produced Quicksilver and Arvor for an American corporation Brunswick... Based on this, the quality of the boats is very high, and the production culture is beyond praise.

An architect was chosen to design the new yacht Wojtek Spisak, a young but talented designer from Krakow, who managed to recommend himself with more than 20 models of small boats in production. The premiere took place at the August boat show in Gdynia.
And so, the long-awaited moment has come. The first thing that caught my eye was that they did not save on all equipment. I missed the feeling that comes with many post-crisis yachts: "Here I would put a larger hatch, and here I would put this."
At Balt 27, all equipment is of high quality, in the right quantity.
Balt 27 designed as a cruiser for a complete family or for two childless couples. If it is a fast boat, so much the better, but the main criterion for judging is still interior comfort. Let's start with the deck. An impressive stainless steel roller, followed by a self-draining locker, windlass and ducks. Next - the correct size stoppers, winches Andersen... Everything looks reliable and ready for heavy use.
On a yacht of this small size, it is possible to accommodate the steering wheel. Many of us dream of a boat with a steering wheel, and the small size of the yacht deprives us of this, but not on Balt 27... Here the column with a good size of the steering wheel looks in place, and the stainless console allows you to place the navigation devices.
More inside than outside
Very bright and spacious interior disposes to a pleasant pastime. The shipyard did not skimp on large windows and hatches, this all expands the space, and you can continue to admire the sea in any weather. Light wood in decoration, a large number of lockers and lockers. The quality of workmanship is like on expensive yachts. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail, it is pleasant to be in such a salon.
You can appreciate this height in the cabin and in the bathroom reaches 1.86 m, this gives freedom of movement. And besides, the boat does not look heavy from the outside. An excellent bathroom, with a good toilet and shower, the architect tried to allocate as much space as possible for a boat of this size.
Small but well thought out galley, high quality artificial stone table top. A very convenient pull-out refrigerator, this is the first time I have met this on small yachts. It was nice to find a heater Webasto: that in the Baltic, that in our area it will not be superfluous.
The main treasure was waiting for me under the steps: the diesel engine is located here! And which! Japanese Yanmar, one of the best mass-produced marine diesel engines, and even with a straight gross line! Diesel on such a boat is a dream. I don’t trust outboard motors, and the stories that diesel eats up space, I am hooked. I know the outboard motor can eat up nerves and time. With a diesel engine, everything is different - started and drove off. Yes, with a power, probably a little overkill of 15 hp, it may be a bit too much for such a boat, but a smaller motor can be supplied on request.

We go out to sea
It so happened that I was the first to test the boat in sea conditions. Leaving the marina on such a baby was not difficult. Behind the breakwater of the port, a wind of 20 knots and a wave up to one meter high awaited us. We quickly set sails and rushed to storm the elements. The boat obeyed the helm perfectly and was stable on the course.
Balt 27 is a cruiser. But the era of clumsy and heavy buildings is a thing of the past. This boat is easy to handle in all conditions, has a stable course and is very maneuverable in the marina.
In gulfind our speed was 56 knots, which is quite good for a yacht of this size, and with a non-folding propeller. The yacht behaves very well in the sidewind, trying to catch the wind to the last degree. The boat is so easy to operate that it will easily give in to both a teenager and a girl.
On the way back we cleaned the sails and tried the diesel at full speed. Our speed was 9 knots, I wonder if it is possible to pull a skier with us at that speed?
