Another burnt yacht, Thailand has opened post-COVID yacht marinas and a new range of yachts from Ferretti Yachts. Interparus will tell you about the most interesting events in the world of yachting over the past few days.
Thailand opens marinas for yachts from around the world
In a positive move for the global yachting community, Thailand has begun easing COVID-19 restrictions and is now accepting boats from all over the world.
Phuket Island in Thailand is the main center for attracting international yachts. Superyacht visits to the island have grown exponentially over the past 15 years, with 1,500 yachts and cruisers visiting the "Pearl of the Andaman Islands" last year. Sailing boats are also frequent guests on the island.
The Thai government is also moving ahead with a development plan for yachts and marinas in Phuket, Koh Samui and Pattaya. With this plan, Thailand is looking to lead the country in yachting in the future.
Gordon Fernandes, co-founder of Asia Pacific Superyachts, commented: “An ideal location for superyachts, ships can depart from one of Phuket’s marinas for travel to the Phi Phi Islands, Similan Islands, Racha Islands, Coral Island, Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi, the islands Koh Khai, Koh Bon and another Thai province - Koh Phangnga.
After Thai authorities signaled that the COVID-19 crisis was coming to an end, businesses have resumed operations and public life is returning to normal. Restaurants are once again crowded, with shoppers even lining up outside popular spots and shops across the country.
The expiration of the "Thai Pass" on July 1, 2022 means that foreign tourists will no longer incur the cost of taking tests, purchasing COVID insurance and downloading various documents via the Internet before traveling to Thailand.
Another burnt yacht
Motor yacht Canados caught fire and sank in Tallinn Bay, Estonia. According to local reports, there were ten people on board the 27-meter (88 ft) superyacht when the fire started on 30 July 2022 at 15:30.
It is reported that the yacht is called Hooligan and was registered under the Finnish flag. The yacht stopped due to a technical malfunction, which escalated into a fire a few minutes later. After the Mayday signal, the crew and passengers boarded the life raft of the yacht. They were picked up by a nearby ship, and then they were handed over to the Estonian rescue team, which delivered them to the Tallinn port of Kakumyaki.
According to local and Finnish media reports, the yacht sank at around 6:30 pm and the Estonian Coast Guard is now working to recover it to avoid further oil pollution of the water. Police and border guards said the Hooligan was carrying about 12 tons of fuel at the time of the incident. Hooligan was launched by the Italian shipyard Canados in 2008.
Ferretti presents a new range of yachts
The Italian shipyard Ferretti Yachts will create a new line of motor yachts with a length of 70-100 feet. The new INFYNITO line offers “seamless contact with the environment”. Such contact means huge windows, hatches and portholes for contemplating the environment. Ferretti Yachts will also take care of the environment through green energy and materials.
“A key innovation is the visual continuity between interior and exterior. Visually, the yacht becomes inseparable from the outside space,” Ferretti said in a press release. “The discreet design, clean and balanced, expresses new values that point the way to a more natural and sustainable approach to cruising, which is increasingly used by owners.”
INFYNITO is a series inspired by research vessels designed for long journeys and hosting guests in complete comfort. The owner should feel at home in an intimate, safe and relaxing environment.
The yacht also features FSEA (Ferretti Sustainable Enhanced Architecture), a package of sustainable cruising solutions. These include a rooftop with solar panels that generate electricity to charge onboard batteries, hotel mode, a technology that creates an atmosphere of complete relaxation on board, with zero emissions thanks to a special lithium battery pack, as well as more sustainable materials, including sustainable paints, sustainable teak , fabrics and leather, recyclable.
