The legendary brand Picchiotti has received a second wind. Soon Picchiotti will release a whole line of superyachts in retro style.
Picchiotti knows style
The Italian Sea Group is moving from custom yacht construction to serial production. To do this, she acquired and updated the Picchiotti brand. This was announced just six months after its acquisition. Picchiotti's first production yacht is due for delivery in the summer of 2024 and 15 more units are said to be in the pipeline.
The Picchiotti brand has existed since 1575. The updated 2021-2022 Picchiotti has focused on the production of modern retro-style yachts. The company draws inspiration from American design in the 1960s.

Italian yacht conglomerate Sea Group, which recently launched Admiral Kensho and Tecnomar for the Lamborghini 63, surprised everyone when it acquired Perini Navi and Picchiotti last December for around $82 million. Perini Navi was a good buy. This shipyard is considered one of the leading companies in the world of exclusive sailing yachts.
Picchiotti has been a brand of motor yachts for decades. And while the design of the superyachts was sleek and modern - especially for a name dating back to 1575 - they only built a handful of vessels before the company went bankrupt in 2019.
The Gentlemen line at its finest
The Sea Group has engaged Florence-based designer Luca Dini to create a new line of Picchiotti production yachts ranging from 78 to 180 feet. They were nicknamed "Gentlemen" and inspired by the images of American yachts of the 60s. The idea is to combine classic lines with new technologies and engineering solutions.

“Obviously inspired by the golden age of post-war yachting, this new line captivated me immediately. It is reminiscent of historical models such as the Giglio series or Picchiotti's Mistral series,” Giovanni Costantino, founder and CEO of The Italian Sea Group, said in a statement. “I am very proud that I was able to refresh the brand, which represents the legacy of the entire maritime industry – one of the oldest shipyards in the world.”
Giovanni also added: "This is a project dedicated to those owners who want to stand out, but are also very familiar with the tradition and concept of classic yachts."
In more recent times, Picchiotti is best known for building the 338ft motor yacht Al Said. Al Said was one of the largest yachts in the world of its time. The company went on to build the award-winning 164-foot Exuma research ship and the 239-foot Grace E yacht. Picchiotti's new yachts will be aluminum hulled. The shipyard also offers hybrid propulsion or all-electric propulsion.
