U-Boat Worx surprises again with its interesting concept. Last time they showed a small functioning submarine for two, and now they swung at the creation of an amazing hybrid of a yacht and a full-fledged submarine!
The main features of Nautilus
As U-Boat Worx jokes, it feels like the shipyard has brought a whole new meaning to the phrase “multi-purpose equipment”. And it's hard to argue with that - especially with the announcement of Nautilus.
Recall that U-Boat Worx is a Dutch company specializing in the creation of private and commercial underwater vehicles. At the recent Monaco Boat Show, U-Boat Worx unveiled the concept of a 123-foot "vessel" that will function as both a superyacht and a submarine.
The name unambiguously refers to the genus of cephalopods of the same name. Despite the fact that these mollusks cannot swim on the surface of the water and prefer the deep sea, the name is more than apt.
A kind of "hybrid" will weigh about 1250 tons. Nautilus will be equipped with a powerful diesel-electric power plant. Thanks to this, the submarine will be able to cut across the ocean at speeds up to nine knots per hour. If you have a question about speed under water, then company representatives are ready to answer. It is stated that under water Nautilus will be able to develop up to 4 knots per hour. The dive depth should be up to 656 feet (about 200 meters). Impressive, don't you think?
What did they say about diving?
Representatives of the company said that the boat's total power reserve under water is up to four days. But on condition that no more than 6 hours per dive.
After this time, the hybrid will still have to rise to the surface and replenish its air reserves. However, diving even to the maximum depth should not take much time. The director of U-Boat Worx Houtman emphasizes this.
“If the sea gets too rough, you just dive deeper and continue your journey in comfort,” Houtman adds. “With Nautilus, the yachting market will never be the same again. We have already made a significant impact on the market with our previous NEMO. But in the case of Nautilus, it's on a whole different level."
Nautilus interior and exterior
The luxurious interior fully reveals all the amenities of a superyacht. Naturally, it can be completely customized to the customer. The standard layout includes a large combined living and dining area. The total area of these premises will be 538 square meters. feet (163 sq.m.) Alas, interior renderings were not presented. We managed with general statements about the internal content of the yacht.
There is also a fully equipped galley, a huge master suite, four regular cabins and sleeping quarters for six crew members. Along the entire perimeter of the Nautilus, there are many large round “windows”. Thanks to them, you can fully enjoy the incredible underwater views. Yes, and surface too.
Before you dive in to explore the depths of the sea, there is a large sun deck at your disposal. On it you will find a swimming pool, a bar and a large dining area. Of course, all this splendor is carefully packed before diving below sea level. The Nautilus comes with the new Aronnax electric tender.
By the way, unlike other companies that specialize in the production of concepts, U-Boat Worx claims that the first Nautilus will be delivered within the next 30 months. The work is being actively carried out. As a result, the estimated cost will be approximately $24.5 million.
