Let's touch the yacht watch classics together! Interparus will tell you about the re-release of the Timex Intrepid watch and what has changed in the new version.
Timex Intrepid 1995 Reissue
Timex, in collaboration with Dimepiece founder Brynn Wallner and vintage watch expert Alan Bedwell of Foundwell, has brought back a reimagined version of its 1995 Intrepid sailing watch.
The updated version is called the Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Edition and offers a modern, more versatile take on the older version of the watch.
Why the Original 1995 Intrepid Became a Cult Vehicle
In the 90s, this watch stood out for its combination of functionality and bright nautical style. Its recognizable 46-mm stainless steel case, crown located at the 4 o'clock position, rotating slide bezel for navigation calculations and signature Indiglo backlight made the model indispensable for sailing and cruising.
The white contrast dial ensured excellent readability, and water resistance and diving depth of up to 100 meters allowed the watch to be used in any marine conditions.
Key features of the 1995 Timex Intrepid:
- large body for better readability and convenience in a sports environment,
- specialized navigation bezel with logarithmic scales,
- Indiglo backlighting, which made it easy to read the readings in the dark,
- robust construction designed for active use.
In the new version, the designers retained the spirit and general idea of Intrepid, but adapted the dimensions and aesthetics to the demands of the modern market.
What's different about the new 2025 Interpid?
Briefly about what has remained unchanged: the level of water resistance, the position of the crown, the rotating bezel, the quartz analog movement, the synthetic rubber strap. All these distinctive features of the original have migrated in full to the updated version.

The changes affected the following components of the watch:
- Frame. The case size has been reduced from a massive 46 mm to a more compact 36 mm. The material is stainless steel with a satin and polished finish, which increases scratch resistance and gives the watch a neater, more “universal” look. The new diameter makes the model comfortable for both narrow and wide wrists, maintaining a balance between sports and everyday wear. There is also a separate full-size version at 46 mm.
- Clock face. Instead of the stark white of the 1995 original, a creamy shade is used, giving the watch a vintage warmth and visually softening the contrast. The black hour markers are richer and sharper, increasing legibility in different lighting conditions. The minute markers and logos are executed with particular graphic clarity, preserving the character of the “instrumental” nautical design.
- Indiglo lighting and color accents. The signature Indiglo backlight remains, but the button to activate it is now highlighted in purple, echoing the shade of the seconds hand and some hour markers. This move adds a modern touch and references the signature aesthetic of the Dimepiece project, without interfering with functionality - the button is still easy to find by touch.
- Back cover. The case cover is made of stainless steel, with deep engraving of the Timex and Dimepiece logos. In addition to the decorative function, this confirms the limited edition and emphasizes the collaborative nature of the model. The cover is secured with a screw, which increases the tightness and maintains water resistance.
The Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Edition has become a kind of bridge between the legendary past and current standards of watch design. The new model retains the spirit and functionality of the 1995 original, but rethinks some solutions for modern needs. This model is capable of attracting both collectors and connoisseurs of vintage aesthetics, as well as those looking for a practical, reliable and at the same time stylish watch for every day. And, judging by the combination of history, functionality and affordable price, the Intrepid in its new guise has a good chance of repeating the success of its iconic predecessor.
The Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Edition watch retails for $$239 and is available now at Timex, Dimepiece, Todd Snyder, and their affiliates.
