The Aeolos P45 is a light, fast and compact regatta cruiser. Interparus shares the first details about the new carbon boat!
Aeolos P45 ultralight cruiser
The Dubai-based company Aeolos Composites is engaged in the creation of light and fast yachts. Led by German engineer and yachtsman Hans Ghente, the company has already released several models for offshore racing. The same line of yachts includes the new Aeolos P45.
According to the company itself, the new yacht is “aimed at yachtsmen who want a light and fast boat for regattas, but value comfort and compactness.” The Aeolos P45 has a displacement of only 4 tons and a length of 15 meters, which really makes it a very light boat compared to yachts of a similar size.
This lightness of the case was achieved through the use of carbon fiber and composites. In order to balance such a light hull, the company's engineers had to work on the ballast system. As a result, the Aeolos P45 has a 2000 kg keel. And even so, the keel of the boat is almost 20% lighter than that of the same Grand Soleil 40.
Options and features
There are two versions of the Aeolos P45 in total. The first is a super-fast cruiser (Luxus) and a model for real racers (Racing). A common option for both versions is a telescopic lifting keel. Thanks to it, it will be possible to reduce the draft to 1.6 meters.
The Luxus version, as the name suggests, is ideal for yachtsmen who love to race, but sometimes don't mind spending time somewhere in the outskirts of the Mediterranean on a cruise. In this version, there are three cabins on board, a long salon, a galley on the port side.
The Racing version is designed for avid racers. For cruising enthusiasts, this version may seem a bit stripped down, but riders should appreciate it. Of the interesting things on board this version is the gennaker laying system.
The decks on both versions are optimized for comfortable sailing and breaking new speed records. The Aeolos P45 can be driven by a small crew of two, as well as a full-fledged racing team of six. The Luxus version has a small stern bathing platform.
At the discretion of the owner, one or two steering wheels will be installed. There is also a generator from Honda on board, as well as a 9kW electric drive.
