Befoil was born out of an R&D (Research and development) project called Voilavion, and was conceived by Benjamin Magnard with the aim of creating a hydrofoil equipped with a folding mast
On the first test, the boat just flew.
As a result of this innovative project, Befoil was born.
Based in Lorient, this company is backed by the Brittany region, BPI and Mer Invest, a subsidiary of Banque Populaire Grand Ouest.
The specifications were drawn up in collaboration with VPLP, a French naval architecture firm whose reputation is well known, to create a hydrofoil catamaran that is easy to use and accessible to everyone: the Befoil 16.
It is a 16-foot hydrofoil catamaran, designed for the thrill-seekers and sailing schools, which is easy to navigate and, thanks to its large surface area and stability, allows you to navigate the water safely.
New Befoil 16 Sport
Made in Europe and assembled in the Lorient plant, the Befoil 16 Sport is a high quality construction thanks to its infusion manufacturing process.
This sports version was launched at the end of 2020.
The Befoil 16 Sport is lighter, stronger and has better sailing performance.
Designed for private individuals and sailing schools, this hydrofoil catamaran adapts to all sailing programs, quickly learning to fly sensationally easily on the water.
The Befoil 16 Sport is the latest addition to the Befoil range, equipped with self-adjusting T-fenders, twin rudders and glass / epoxy floats.
Whether in flying sport mode or in comfort mode with additional ladders, the Befoil 16 Sport delivers a great sense of speed.
The boat takes off at a speed of 8 knots and can reach speeds of up to 20 knots.

It takes off with the Befoil
Its first commercialization was successful.
The first 10 owners were very pleased and found in this Befoil 16 Sport everything they expected from a flying catamaran.
In the absence of boat shows, the Befoil 16 Sport was presented for the first time at Lake Tegernsee in Germany.
This presentation made a splash and attracted many sailing enthusiasts during the tests.
The Befoil 16 Sport recently took off with the Voile 2021 Foiler of the Year award.
Befoil is headed by Pierre Engel, the new CEO.
