There are several solar powered yacht concepts, but this one stands out thanks to the stylish design from Roland Friedberger. It captures the characteristic German approach “prakish, kvadratish, gut”, but more streamlined and modern. The development of the yacht SWATH is led by the German shipbuilder Schaaf Yachtbau.

In eco mode, the yacht has a cruising range of 170 nautical miles at a speed of 5 knots. The power of the twin engines is 500 kW each, which allows a maximum speed of up to 20 knots. In standby or hybrid mode, there are two 65 kW generators with a range of 2,500 miles.
The aluminum yacht is still under development and the final price has not yet been announced.

SWATH
SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) - a two-hull vessel with a small waterline area (LWA). The concept was first introduced by Frederick George Creed in 1938. The main advantage is high stability during rolling. Abeking & Rasmussen has built several pilot vessels using this technology, among them the Silver Cloud superyacht.
Legend has it that the owner of the first SWATH yacht ordered it because his wife was suffering from motion sickness. Well, since 2008, the mission can be considered completed.

Solarimpact's internal area is 250 m²... The standard layout includes 4 double cabins, an owner's suite and one crew cabin. However, the shipyard is flexible about this issue and is ready to develop other options.
