Seldén has launched a new series of soft lashing blocks designed primarily for the small boat market. Lightweight blocks are available in three sizes.
Increasingly, yachtsmen are switching to soft hinged blocks, as they have many positive qualities.
They may have originally been seen as a weight-saving tool for increased performance, but their articulation flexibility and increased breaking load make them understandably desirable, so we are introducing the new Seldén soft bracing blocks.
It must be said that weight reduction continues to be an important selling point, and perhaps this is why Seldén's new lightweight soft mount ball bearing units are offered in three sizes for dinghies where weight reduction is often the key to success.
Particular attention was paid to the design of the most compact unit, minimizing play in the pulley.
A ball bearing cage inside the pulley distributes loads more evenly, maximizing performance and increasing block durability.
Ideal for retrofits and upgrades to cascade dinghy systems, kickers and mainsail and staysail control systems, the Seldén soft anchor block is also ideal for those looking to reduce weight and improve style.
The blocks offer a better pivot connection and have a higher breaking strength than the products they replace.
The pulley width is 20 to 40 mm, for ropes with a diameter of 6 to 10 mm. Both double and single pulley options are available and allowable working loads range from 100 to 250 kg.
