B&G, a company known for its products for the marine industry, has introduced a new chartplotter Zeus S Ultrawide. Interparus shares details about the new product.
B&G decided to please yachting fans with a new product - a super-large and super-powerful chartplotter of the new line. The chartplotter (although it would be more correct to say MFD) was named Zeus S Ultrawide and it is in no way inferior to the ancient thunder god.
The article is an adaptation of the material "Breitwandkino jetzt auch beim Segeln" by Roland Wildberg for the publication FloatMagazie.de.
General characteristics of Zeus S Ultrawide
The key point, according to the company, was the image quality. The new screen, which the Zeus S Ultrawide received, is wide enough to simultaneously accommodate a map, a movie player, and additional software for yachting. The hardware component has also been improved compared to previous B&G lines.

So, the Zeus S Ultrawide has an eight-core processor, which is also used in the basic version of the Zeus S. The display has a particularly high pixel density. According to B&G, the screen can be used even in bright sunlight without losing clarity and readability, even with polarized glasses. In short, a miracle, not a device!
Two Zeus S Ultrawide formats to choose from
A potential owner of the Zeus S Ultrawide chartplotter can choose between two formats: wide and ultra-wide. The wide Zeus has a screen diagonal of 12 inches, which corresponds to a display width of 33.7 cm. Such dimensions will not suit all yachts.

12-inch version (left) and 15-inch version (right). Externally, they are almost identical.
The ultra-wide Zeus S Ultrawide has a 15-inch diagonal with an actual body width of 39 cm. This size will be enough for comfortable viewing of wide navigation maps or, if you split the screen, for several applications side by side.
“For the first time, you’ll be able to see apps the way they were meant to be seen,” says B&G in a press release about the new Zeus S Ultrawide.
Designed specifically for yachting and sailing
Zeus S Ultrawide continues the trends laid down in the basic model Zeus S. In terms of size and characteristics, the new chartplotter is almost identical to its analogue Simrad NSX Ultrawide. But if the latter was created and optimized for motor yachts, then Zeus S Ultrawide is aimed at sailboats and their owners.

Thus, Zeus S Ultrawide will be equipped with several interfaces: WLAN, Ethernet and NMEA 2000. Thanks to these interfaces, Zeus S Ultrawide will be compatible with Halo radars, additional Triton series screens and IP video cameras.
Like all other B&G devices, the new "widescreen" will be optimized for using C-Map charts. Let us remind you that the C-Map family includes the C-Map Discover X and Reveal X series of navigation charts. The special feature of these charts is the display of shaded underwater reliefs, the use of satellites for mapping, and a special night mode. C-Map charts also support tide data.
Sailing software is also available on the Zeus S Ultrawide
Zeus S Ultrawide offers support for features such as SailSteer, Anglier and StartLine, as well as special sailing modes for cruising, racing and even anchoring. Software updates are available directly from the device itself. All navigation functions are synchronized with C-Map. This way, you can automatically receive notifications of approaching hazards - from shallow water to buoys.

The B&G smartphone app allows you to sync your Zeus S Ultrawide with your phone and receive notifications remotely. The app also allows you to monitor the status of your yacht and the systems connected to your Zeus S Ultrawide.
The Zeus S Ultrawide 12-inch version costs 3,568 euros. The 15-inch version costs 4,401 euros.
