Mercury Marine continues to delight us with new products. Interparus shares details about Avator series electric motors!
Lineup update
Mercury Marine, a recognized leader in the world of marine technology, continues to amaze with its innovative approach to creating outboard engines. The company recently unveiled its latest range of Avator electric outboards, including the Avator 75e and Avator 110e, which promise to revolutionize yachting.
The first model in the Avator line was presented by the manufacturer last year. The presentation took place at CES 2023. Then we were shown the Mercury Avator 7.5e model. In addition, Mercury Marine officially announced its transition to electric propulsion development. The company already emphasized at that moment that one of the main areas of development in the near future would be the development of electric motors for yachts and boats.
The new line is focused not only on preserving the environment, reducing noise levels and safe operation. Mercury Marine wants to explore how durable electric motors can be.
Avator 75e and Avator 110e models
At CES 2024, the company presented two new engines in the line. The Avator 75e and 110e electric motors have been added to the lineup. Avator 75e is a compact and lightweight electric motor that is suitable for yachts and smaller boats. It is capable of delivering up to 7.5 kW of power. It is powered by a replaceable 1 kWh lithium battery. Interestingly, it will take about 3.5 hours to fully charge the battery.
The engine can be controlled from a digital panel and from an application on a smartphone. The device has access to GPS, and is also capable of independently assessing the charge level and constantly notifying the user of how much longer the battery will last.
When describing the 110e model, you can get by with a succinct phrase: “The same as the Avator 75e, but an order of magnitude more powerful.” Unlike the younger model, the 110e is capable of delivering up to 11 kW of power.
Avator 110e is an option for larger yachts. And while the 110e is marketed as an eco-friendly alternative for long journeys, battery life at full throttle is only about an hour. On the other hand, walking for an hour solely with the engine at full speed is not so often necessary. Mercury Marine claims that with proper charge consumption, the engine can run for up to 24 hours.
Other models of the Avator series
In addition to the 75e and 110e models, the company also has electric motors for watercraft such as tenders and small boats. Models 20e-35e are designed for short trips with good performance and speed. The 20e and 35e have a hefty 1kWh battery weighing a whopping 21.7kg. Standing apart is the diminutive 7.5e model, which is unlikely to be used on anything larger than a two-metre rigid boat or tender.
At the moment, the exact technical characteristics of only three models of the Avator series are known - 7.5e, 20e and 35e. The first 75e and 110e will be delivered by mid-2024. Then all technical characteristics will become known. We'll keep an eye out for new products from Mercury Marine!
