Review of the powerful new Volvo Penta D13 engine

Volvo Penta D13 has a unique power-to-weight ratio: twin, triple and quadruple engines up to 5400 hp. (2 x 1000 = 2700 HP; 3 x 1000 = 4000 HP; 4 x 1000 = 5400 HP) plus its compact size, high performance and versatility make it the natural choice for yachts 60-120 feet.

Low vibrations mean low noise levels. Volvo Penta IPS reduces the perceived noise level by 50%. Noise and vibration levels are reduced with smart rubber suspension and seals that absorb traction and driving forces.

New Volvo Penta D13 meets standards EPA Tier 3 and RCD Stage II. Low fuel consumption means less emissions. Emissions are discharged by a stream of water without disturbing guests on the aft deck.

The compact design is designed to optimize the yacht's interior architecture, resulting in a smaller engine room and more onboard space. The power-to-weight / size ratio opens up new possibilities for yacht interior design, such as adding an extra cabin or space to accommodate sports equipment, expanding the seating area, and the list of options is endless.

The high efficiency IPS allows for a smaller engine and still gets top speed, the twin setup does triple work, and the compact 13-liter engine does the work of a much larger conventional engine.
