Multi Transat: New Transatlantic Catamaran Race
Jimmy Cornell, founder ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), has launched a new transatlantic rally aimed exclusively at multihull owners. Catamarans and trimaran owners will now have the opportunity to race across the Atlantic Ocean in the Caribbean, starting from Santa cruz de tenerife November 12.
The main focus of this event is to give participants the opportunity to compete with other vessels of similar length and characteristics in strictly defined classes. Depending on the number of boats, the classes will be split so that yachts of the same design and length will be able to compete against each other. Yachts are limited in size from 40 to 65 feet LOA.
The island of Barbados was chosen as the finish of the race in the Caribbean. The same event will coincide with the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the independence of Barbados. The local home is the Barbados Yacht Club, whose members are some of the most successful and competitive sailors in the Caribbean. Also Barbados is home to a famous distillery Mount gay rumsponsoring over one hundred sailing events around the world.
The organizers will have a booth at the International Catamaran Show in La Grande Motte from 13 to 17 April 2016. The Multi Transat is organized by Cornell sailing events
