During the operation of the R / O desalter, the membrane can accumulate mineral deposits and organic particles, which leads to a decrease in the performance of the desalter and a deterioration in water quality. Every time you notice a decrease in water quality, the membrane needs to be cleaned.
Before cleaning the membrane, make sure that the degradation in desalination quality is not caused by the following possible problems:
- Low seawater temperature.
- The filter is clogged, water does not flow well through the system, which leads to a lack of water at the pump inlet.
- The pump is not working well, water is leaking through the pump seal.
- Honeycomb clogged (ESW)
Attention the membrane can only be cleaned inside Pressure vessel... Never remove the cleaning membrane from the Pressure vessel.
How to clean the membrane ESW / ESB mode
1. Flush the membrane as described in the instructions.
2. Fill the additional tank with 10 liters of water purified by a desalinator or clean water without chlorine. (chlorinated tap water is not suitable)
3. Prepare the mixture Alcalain A in an additional tank.
Attention: The mixtures of Alcalain A and Acid are very aggressive, if these reagents get into the eyes or on the skin, burns can occur, work with glasses and rubber gloves.
4. Insert the cleaning hoses D and E into the auxiliary tank and open the cleaning valve (item 11) to the cleaning position.
5. Move inlet valve 1 to the flush position.
6. Open the valve (7) to bleed the air from the hydraulic booster (6)
7. Switch off the productive valve (14) by unscrewing the bolt on the small valve box 14 and pulling out the connection. It is necessary to turn off the main fresh water tank only for ESW mode, or close valve 12 for ESB mode.
8. Press the green ON button to start the pump and pump the cleaning mixture in a closed loop.
9. Let the watermaker 15 run in this mode.
10. Then stop the pump - press the red button.
11. Drain the cleaning fluid from the secondary tank and rinse it with clean fresh water.
12. Close the purge valve - item 11.
13. Flush the membranes, carefully read the instructions
14. Fill the additional tank with 10 liters of clean, chlorine-free fresh water.
15. Prepare cleaning compound 752003-MC3 (see 752037 - EXP10) by mixing these chemicals with ten liters of clean water in an additional tank.
16. Place valve 11 in the cleaning position.
17. Press the green ON button to start the pump and run it in closed mode.
18. Let the watermaker run for 15 minutes in this mode.
19. Then press the red pump stop button.
20. Drain the solution from the additional tank and rinse it with clean fresh water.
21. Close purge valve 11.
22. Flush the membranes (as shown in the instructions)
Attention, in case of a long break in the operation of the desalter, you need to preserve it, see the instructions on how to do it. The membranes can also be cleaned in a special stand industrially onshore, contact your agent or a representative of the manufacturer of the desalination plant.
When membrane cleaning is required, X and Y modes
During normal operation of the desalter, the R / o membranes can accumulate mineral deposits and organic debris, as a result, the performance of the desalter decreases as well as the quality of the water. Before starting to clean the membranes, make sure that the decrease in the performance of the desalter and the deterioration in the quality of fresh water are not caused by the following possible reasons.
- Low seawater temperature.
- The filter is clogged, water does not pass well through the system, as a result, there is not enough water at the pump inlet.
- Poor operation of the HP pump itself, water leaks through the pump oil seal.
- System pressure not adjusted.
- Cells are clogged.
How to clean membranes X and Y mode
1. Wash the membranes as indicated in the instructions.
2. Fill the additional tank with 10 liters of pure desalinated water or water without chlorine.
3. Prepare Alcaline A solution by mixing with ten liters of fresh water in an additional tank.
Attention: The mixtures of Alcalain A and Acid are very aggressive, if these reagents get into the eyes or on the skin, burns can occur, work with glasses and rubber gloves.
4. Insert the M flush hoses into the additional tank and open valve 8 XA-XD and valve 13 Y to the flush position.
5. Fully close the pressure regulating valve 7 XA-XD and 12 Y they turn clockwise, close the valve 18 XA-XD.
6. Open valve 1XA-XD and 2 Y to flush position.
7. Start the pump by pressing the green button so that the liquid flow necessary for cleaning is formed inside the closed circuit. Attention, for the correct cleaning of the membranes, the system must be operated at a pressure no higher than 3 bar.
8. Let the watermaker run for 15 minutes in this mode.
9. Then stop the watermaker by pressing the red button.
10. Drain the mixture from the auxiliary tank and rinse it with clean fresh water.
11. Close valves 8 XA-XD and 13 Y reject position.
12. Fully open valves 7 XA-XD and 12 Y, they open counterclockwise.
13. Flush the membranes as indicated in the instructions.
14. Fill the additional tank with 10 liters of clean fresh water from a desalter or other water, but without chlorine.
15. Prepare Acid B cleaning mixture and pour it into the additional tank.
16. Place valves 8 XA-XD and 13 Y in flush position
17. Fully close the 7 XA-XD and 12 Y pressure regulating valve, they turn clockwise.
18. Start the pump by pressing the green button so that the liquid flow necessary for cleaning is formed inside the closed circuit.
19. Let the watermaker run for 15 minutes in this mode.
20. Then stop the watermaker by pressing the red button.
21. Drain the mixture from the additional tank and rinse it with clean fresh water.
22. Close valves 8 XA-XD and 13 Y reject position.
23. Fully open valves 7 XA-XD and 12 Y, they open counterclockwise.
24. Flush the membranes as indicated in the instructions.
Attention, in the event of a long break in the operation of the desalter, it must be preserved.
