Marine drones are becoming increasingly popular. Interparus will tell you about HOVERAir AQUA — an autonomous waterproof drone capable of independently filming video.
HOVERAir has unveiled AQUA, a new AI drone that can fly autonomously without a remote control and is not afraid of water. Essentially, it is a “flying cameraman” for kayaking, surfing, yachting, and any water activities where it would be a shame to throw a regular camera overboard. But HOVERAir AQUA follows you and shoots footage where equipment is usually sunk or flooded.
After years of the “megapixel race,” the market is once again trying out real innovation. Antigravity recently showed off the A1 8K 360, DJI Mavic 4 Pro got a fully rotating gimbal for non-standard angles, and HOVERAir stands out among these industry giants with its clear focus on yachting and water sports.
AQUA is a fully waterproof drone that does not require manual control. Sounds unusual, right? Let's try to figure out what are the features of the new HOVERAir AQUA.
Features of HOVERAir AQUA
The HOVERAir AQUA is a relatively compact and lightweight drone: 202 x 206 x 64 mm (7.95 x 8.11 x 2.52 in), 249 g (0.55 lbs). Weighing under 250 g means that most countries do not require registration, and the model is C0 certified for EU users.
The AQUA drone is waterproof to IP67 and, like a real seaplane, it has a solid float on the bottom, meaning it is buoyant. Simply put, you can take off and land both from land (shore, beach) and directly on water, such as a lake or sea.
The front has a 1.6” AMOLED display and three control buttons. The screen allows you to change camera settings, preview and view footage, and see the remaining memory and battery charge. The built-in storage offers 128 GB of memory, so you don’t need to buy a memory card right away. The maximum autonomous flight time is up to 23 minutes. The batteries are replaceable, so you can extend the work by replacing them.
HOVERAir AQUA camera specifications
The HOVERAir AQUA has an integrated camera with a 1/1.28” CMOS sensor and a lens equivalent to 18mm F/2.55 for full-frame format, which gives a wide viewing angle of about 95°. The optics have a hydrophobic coating, as well as a self-heating system to prevent fogging, thanks to which you can get a crystal clear image without drops on the lens even in damp or cold environments.

AQUA is capable of recording material in resolutions up to 4K/100p in 16:9 format and up to 4K/30p in vertical mode. According to the manufacturer, five preset recording modes are available:
- standard,
- slow motion,
- vertical shooting,
- HDR,
- 10-bit H-Log for maximum dynamic range.
The maximum recording bitrate is 160 Mbps.
The nuance of stabilization
It is important to consider that AQUA has only a single-axis suspension. The drone has electronic stabilization: horizon alignment and the proprietary SmoothCapture 3.0 algorithm are digitally processed. According to HOVERAir, the drone is capable of flying at wind speeds of up to 33 knots (about 61 km/h).
Flight modes and controls
As already noted, the HOVERAir AQUA is a self-controlled drone based on AI. The kit includes a LightHouse remote control, which is responsible for takeoff, landing, and starting recording. LightHouse also works as a tracker and maintains communication between you and the drone.

According to the manufacturer, if the distance exceeds the set limit, AQUA will automatically return to the allowed zone. This allows you to fully concentrate on the activity, without worrying that the drone will “float away” in an unknown direction.
AQUA also has 15 preset flight modes. Among them:
- Follow (following),
- Dolly Track (film movement),
- Zoom Out,
- Orbit (fly around in a circle),
- Spiral
- Bird's Eye (top view).
If desired, control can be switched to manual mode with the optional Beacon & Joysticks set.
Price and availability
HOVERAir AQUA is available for pre-order on Indiegogo: $999 for the Standard kit, $1199 for the Fly More version, $1399 for the Land and Sea version. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in December 2025.
