Fountaine Pajot catamaran to be Volvo Penta's first EV technology
French shipyard Fountaine pajot works with a Swedish company Volvo Penta over the installation, testing and presentation of a prototype of a new electromobility technology on its 40-foot catamaran.
This technology is an initiative that is part of the commitment Volvo Penta - to offer innovative electrified solutions for their products, both in the marine and automotive industries.
“This collaboration with Fountaine pajot is a powerful testament to our belief in the market for this type of new technology and our ability to provide a viable solution, ”says Johan Inden, President of Europe Volvo Penta.

"Colossal knowledge Fountaine pajot, close contact with their customers and data on how owners use their catamarans prove invaluable in helping to provide a real proof of concept and provide an electro solution that delivers significant benefits to customers. We will learn how to maximize the benefits of this new technology together, in a real-world environment. ”
“We also see significant benefits in this alliance,” says Vincent Laigo, head of the design bureau Fountaine pajot... “There is a significant and growing proportion of our customer base looking for more convenience on board, lower operating costs, better environmental sustainability and more sustainable sailing.”
“We believe that the new electrical technology being developed Volvo Penta, will satisfy many of these customer wishes. We are also confident that this technical solution will be well supported worldwide. "

Fountaine Pajot catamaran to be Volvo Penta's first EV technology
Fountaine pajot is one of the leading shipbuilders in France and a longtime customer Volvo Penta... The company was founded in 1976 and has its production base in La Rochellewhere more than 600 luxury catamarans are produced annually. Fountaine pajot has always strived for innovation and loyal customers have always shared the shipyard's passion for sustainable travel.
It is still far from cooperation with Volvo Penta, brand Fountaine pajot has been committed to preserving the environment and each of the cruise line models is available in a ECO CONCEPT... Catamarans use renewable energy sources to minimize their ecological footprint without sacrificing performance and efficiency. Even motor yachts Fountaine pajot recognized as the most economical in fuel consumption, far ahead of competitors. That's why cooperation between Volvo Penta and Fountaine Pajot seems to be a natural continuation of the development of the philosophy of both companies.
Installation of new technology on a sailing catamaran Lucia 40 and subsequent test drives at sea will take place in the coming months. The new technology will be tested in terms of strength, durability and performance. A more detailed overview of the new technology will be published in the coming months as Volvo Penta will officially unveil its latest innovations in fall 2019.
