The new sailboat ICE 66 RS is a continuation of the ideas of the ICE Yachts shipyard about creating luxury yachts. Interparus will tell you about the new product and whether it was possible to achieve the desired results.
Design and creation of the ICE 66 RS
ICE 66 RS is the case when, before reviewing the characteristics of the yacht, you should take a closer look at its “pedigree”. The yacht was unveiled in 2021 while the yachting industry was in the midst of a pandemic. In those days, the ICE Yachts shipyard began to think about creating an exclusive boat with a rich interior and deck decoration.
This is exactly what the ICE 66 RS was intended to be: catchy, stylish, expensive. To implement the project, a team of its own was required: true experts not only in design, but also in naval architecture. As a result, ICE Yachts was able to assemble such a dream team and the design studio Farr Yacht Design and designer Lucio Micheletti joined in the creation of the yacht.
Farr Yacht Design handled the hull design and naval architecture. Micheletti, who has won several design awards, designed the interior and deck.
Deck structure ICE 66 RS
Reviewers, such as the representative of the online publication Yachting News, note that “the admiration begins even before boarding.” This “admiration” is caused by the neat lines of the hull, which fit perfectly into the overall stylistic mood of the yacht.
The hull and deck shape are described as “modern, luxurious and innovative.” It’s hard to disagree with the definition of “modern” - indeed, the appearance of the deck strongly resonates with modern trends in yacht design.
The ICE 66 RS is different from the shipyard's other yachts. It cannot be said that before this yachts from ICE Yachts were devoid of individuality, but it is the ICE 66 RS that has a distinct appearance. The stern of the boat is quite large, furnished practically and tastefully - there is nothing superfluous here. The cockpit has a folding table for al fresco dining and large benches. At the helm there are 4 large winches for controlling the sails, and a couple more are located near the mast. There is also a full tender garage at the stern.
By the way, the entire deck is covered with teak decking, which further emphasizes the overall elegance of the lines of the deck and hull. The cabin has neat outlines and small skylights through which natural light easily penetrates into the salon.
Interior and interior of the ICE 66 RS
The ICE 66 RS is as luxurious on the inside as it is on the outside. The spacious salon welcomes guests and owners of the yacht with a pleasant sofa on the starboard side and a dining table on the left side. Walking a little further you will find a U-shaped galley. Interestingly, they decided not to hide the mast, and it runs straight through the work surfaces of the galley.
Along the starboard and port sides amidships, that is, in the galley area, a large number of lockers and a refrigerator for storing food are skillfully hidden under the work surfaces.
The master cabin is located in the bow. Inside, the owner will find a large double bed with pull-out lockers hidden underneath. There are as many as two guest cabins at the stern. ICE 66 RS is available in 3 and 4 cabin versions.
Technical features of the ICE 66 RS
Despite the dimensions of the yacht (almost 20 meters!), the shipyard claims that the ICE 66 RS can be operated by just one person. ICE Yachts achieved this result through the use of four electric winches, which can be operated alone without wasting energy. The yacht also features an automatic jib system.
The standard version of the ICE 66 RS will be equipped with a fixed keel with a draft of 3.35 m. In the same version, the keel will be through, that is, it will be integral with the boat. A lifting keel option is also available.
The design of the yacht is made of so-called. hybrid sandwich of carbon fiber and fiberglass. This solution, according to ICE Yachts, combines “the rigidity of carbon and the ductility of fiberglass.” “Under the hood” the ICE 66 RS boat has a powerful 195 hp engine, which can accelerate the boat in completely calm conditions to 11 knots.
Among the shortcomings, I would like to note the height differences in the cabin. Due to the design features, the interior spaces are at different heights, which resulted in a difference in floor heights.
The main advantage, in addition to the outstanding design, technological features and pleasant interior, is the lighting of the boat. Lighting is used very cleverly on the deck and in the salon to create the necessary atmosphere of gloss and luxury. This is especially true for the salon - a successful play of light and shadow makes the salon a single space and height differences are not so noticeable.
