Leonardo Yachts knows how to please lovers of classic design. Interparus will tell you about the Eagle 46 – a neoclassical sailboat.
Eagle 46 Design Features
The shipyard itself describes its new creation as a “modern classic daysailer.” The sleek, elongated hull was developed by Leonardo Yachts and Hoek Design, a shipyard known for its classic boats.

The characteristic slope of the stern, the rounded shape of the hull, the largest part of the width of which is in the midship, not at the stern, and the modest wheelhouse, typical of the classic design – all these features testify to the continuity of traditions.

Reviewers note the obvious visual similarity to the elegant large yachts of the J-class, with the only difference being that the Eagle 46 is an order of magnitude smaller. Like other classic yachts, the Eagle 46 has a relatively short length at the waterline. The overall hull length is 14.26 meters, while at the waterline it is only 9.36 meters. When viewed from the side, the characteristic curve of the classic deck is noticeable. The bulwarks protect the compact cockpit and the entrance to the saloon.
Available versions of Eagle 46
The Eagle 46 is available in two versions: basic and carbon. The standard model is made of a fiberglass sandwich with a foam core and vinylester resin. The basic version will have an aluminum mast and the boat will weigh 7.6 tons.
The carbon model will be made of carbon fiber. According to the shipyard's press release, even the rigging in this version of the Eagle 46 will be made of carbon. The main difference, in addition to the materials used, between this version and the base version is the reduced weight of the yacht. The carbon Eagle 46 will save about 800 kilograms of weight, and the total weight of the boat will be 6.7 tons.
Sporty DNA and sailing comfort
The Eagle 46 design is an example of a high-performance yacht for cruising and racing of varying difficulty. By default, the boat is equipped with a large genoa instead of a staysail. The deck and cabins are finished using artificial teak. However, for connoisseurs of natural wood, there is an option to finish the cabin and saloon with real wood to choose from.

The cockpit is long and has good protection due to the bulwark. For ease of control, a U-shaped sofa is located directly in front of the steering wheel. All sail controls are also brought out almost directly to the steering wheel. On the side there is a panel for adjusting the mainsheet and electric winches.

Along the cockpit are two long benches for guests and crew. Under the seats is a practical locker, in which you can store a lot of things. Directly behind the cockpit is another locker, in which you can store sails, mooring lines, and any other accessories.
Eagle 46 Interior
The owner can design the interior as he wishes and is free to choose any colors, wood species and materials. However, as the shipyard representatives say, it is necessary to take into account that the shape of the hull and its thickness will not allow much freedom of imagination.

In the bow of the Eagle 46 there is a spacious cabin with a double berth. Directly behind the galley, in a very modest and inconspicuous niche, there is space for one more person. According to the shipyard's idea, the owner will either use the niche as additional storage space or as a bonus berth. However, to get into this "cabin" you need to show miracles of resourcefulness.

On the starboard side there is a separate toilet with a latrine. On the port side, in front of the additional "cabin" there is an L-shaped galley with everything necessary for cooking.
Features of Eagle 46 versions
The basic and carbon versions of the Eagle 46 differ not only in materials. The basic version has a 50 hp diesel engine. For the carbon version, Leonardo Yachts offers an alternative in the form of a 10 kW Oceanvolt electric motor with an additional battery.
Overall, the base version of the Eagle 46 will cost at least 860,000 euros, and carbon is about 1,127,000 eurosThe prices, frankly speaking, are not small.
conclusions
The Eagle 46 is certainly one of the most beautiful boats to come out of Leonardo Yachts. It is a purebred daysailer – with all its advantages and disadvantages. The classic design will be a definite plus for many yachtsmen, but the modest interior, vague additional berth and cost may scare off a potential fan of “day” cruises.
