A motor boat was put up for sale, which outwardly copies the body of the legendary Porsche Boxster.
Craig Craft 168 Boss - a rarity from the past
We used to be able to go on a Porsche road trip. Now you can do it on the water! A 1995 Craig Craft 168 Boss motorboat is up for auction on Bring a Trailer. A sports boat is naturally not a motorboat from Porsche. However, its design pays tribute to the sports cars of the German brand of those years.
The Craig Craft 168 is a 16ft powerboat. The creators drew inspiration from the Porsche Boxster when creating the design of the motorboat. The curved “body” shapes, nose, Bosch headlights, side mirrors and taillights of the boat are not identical to those on the German convertible, but they are visually very close. The Porsche crest on the hood helps to emphasize this. The upper part of the fiberglass body is finished in high-gloss black, while the lower half is finished in bright yellow.
The “interior” of a boat is the reverse side of its exterior. The motorboat is wrapped in yellow vinyl with black accents. One of the biggest differences between a boat and a car is that the boat has four seats instead of two.
Up front is a dashboard with Porsche and Boss decals, a three-spoke steering wheel and a “dashboard” equipped with a speedometer, tachometer and 80 mph gauges. Other interior features include a center console with cup holders, storage space, a Boss stereo and Kenwood speakers.
The power of the water "Porsche"
The Craig Craft 168 is powered by a GM-built 4.3-liter V-6 that was installed last year. There is also a Berkeley Jet Drive on board with hydraulic reverse gear. It provides smooth movement both forward and backward.
The boat, of course, cannot move on land, but it comes with a white single-axle Shore Land'r trailer. A trailer should make it easier to transport. Just imagine how it will look behind the conditional Porsche Macan ...
The boat auction will run until next Monday. As of the time of publication of the material, bidding for a unique watercraft has already reached $ 18,000. It may not be a real Porsche, but the boat will definitely attract attention on the shore and on the water.
