The small and medium-sized motor yacht sector remains an engine of growth, but the charter sector is also recovering markedly.

Pleasure boat sector in Spain in 2019 increased by 9.65% compared to 2018 (5545). Of the total number of registrations, 4518 - yachts for private usewhile on the market charter yachts, 1,562 registered, which is 3,58% more than last year. These numbers reflect a new milestone in the sector, which hit -6.5% in 2018 after a historic 60% rise since 2014.
The following data is taken from the “Report on the recreational craft sector January-December 2019”, edited by ANEN based on analysis of information provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine:
Based on the size of the yachts, the best results were recorded in the segment between 8 and 12 meters with registrations increased by 41.9%, followed by yachts up to 6 meters (+ 10.4%), and yacht registrations between 12 and 16 meters are up 3.9%.
In 2019 registrations for boats between 6 and 8 meters in length dropped at -1.3%, also the number of registrations for yachts over 16 meters in length has decreased (-8,7%).
The highest demand in the Spanish maritime sector continues to be for small vessels up to 8 meters in length, accounting for 87.7% of total registrations in 2019.

If you look at the statistics of registrations by market, the fastest growing sector is sailboats (+ 30.9%) followed by folding inflatable boat (+ 4,3%), PWC (jet skis and boats + 13.5%) and motor boats (+ 9.8%), which remained the most demanded boats in Spain in 2019 (43.2%) on the market.
The charter sector returns to positive dataas expected in the recreational craft sector reports published ANEN in 2019, and ends the year with an increase in charter boat registrations of 3,58%.
Most wanted for rent in 2019 there were boats up to 8 meters long, which is 84.3% of the charter fleet. PWC presents the 40% of the charter market together with the motor boats (33,8%), which are the most requested rental boats in Spain in 2019.
The Balearic Islands took the lead in the Spanish maritime sector in 2019
With the largest market share (18,85%) and an increase in registrations of 20,16% Balearic Islands closed 2019 at the head of the Spanish maritime sector.
Andalusia is in second place with 19.2% in the recreational craft sector and an increase of 20%, with a total coverage of 17.2%.
Catalonia, in third place, represented 18.6% of the Spanish maritime sector in 2019 and showed an increase of 8,45%.
On the charter market The Balearic Islands are also positioned as the autonomous community with the largest market share (24.3%), followed by Catalonia (23.4%) and Valencia (17,8%).
