Bartolomeo: Consequences of Russian Drone Attack

Bartolomeo Best River Resort is a large hotel and restaurant complex located in Dnepr. The complex is notable not only for its service, but also for the wide range of services that were previously provided. Among the interesting features was a yacht club and the main calling card - a banquet hall created in the form of a large sailing ship.

A little about the Bartolomeo complex

The architects were inspired by the sailing ship San Gabriel, on which the legendary Vasco da Gama traveled. The ship is the central element in the overall composition of the complex. In addition to the banquet hall, the Bartolomeo complex also includes:

• hotel - including luxury apartments and wooden bungalows in a park area;
• two large restaurants;
• entertainment area - includes a night club, karaoke bar, sports grounds, swimming pool, beach and yacht club;
• Additional services: children's play areas, spa center, conference rooms and rental of motor and sailing yachts.

The complex territory has a full-fledged marina for sailing and motor boats. At one time, it was on the basis of the Bartolomeo marina that the team that would later become well known to you under the name Interparus Yachting began its activities. Yes, yes, Interparus took its first steps into the world of big yachting right here.

In addition, Bartolomeo also had a full-fledged children's yacht club. The yacht club and children's yacht school were among the few yachting institutions in Ukraine that were still functioning. The Bartolomeo complex also had a full-fledged zoo called Creative Club Bartolomeo, which was happily visited by both children and adults.

The complex itself is located on the bank of the Dnieper River. For many years, Bartolomeo was a place of rest not only for tourists, but also for guests of the city. The hotel and restaurant complex was famous for the quality of service and services. Particular attention, as can be seen from the sailing ship-restaurant, was also paid to the design of the complex. 

Drone attack on March 28

Relatively recently, Russian troops have changed their tactics — now they "iron" cities simultaneously with a huge number of drones. On March 28, the city of Dnepr was next. According to eyewitnesses and local media, there were about 350 visitors and up to 70 employees in the restaurant "on board" the ship at the time the attack began.

As the general manager of the complex, Yuri Nadzerkin, assures: "The staff did a great job, the guests were evacuated immediately. None of the visitors or employees of the complex were injured. No one sought medical attention."

According to Yuri, people waited for about an hour for rescuers to arrive, who, according to safety protocols, cannot work during an air raid alarm. It took about another hour to extinguish the fire.

Fortunately, there were no casualties among the guests of the complex. The same cannot be said about the rest of the city - 4 dead and 21 wounded. We offer our condolences to the relatives of those killed in the attack.

What's next?

Currently, the Bartolomeo company is working on restoring the destroyed parts of the complex. A little earlier, the festival "City Picnic" was announced, which was to be held from May 30 to June 1. However, due to the destruction caused by drones, the event remains in question. It is likely that the festival will be postponed.

There were also scandals - a collection from the owners was opened for the restoration of the complex. Some (actually, many) residents of Dnepr and sympathizers sharply criticized this decision, arguing that it would have been better to open a collection for the needs of the military.

On March 31, Bartolomeo's official Instagram account announced that all money raised would go to the company's Charity Fund, which helps the military. That seemed to be the end of the conflict.
