2018 Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image Award Winner - Photographer Ricardo Pinto - Volvo Ocean Race
Jesus renedo, an internationally renowned professional photographer and member of the international jury, explained his choice of the winner:
"I liked this shot at first sight and in my opinion it deserves to win." “For us, photographers, the most difficult thing is not to take the picture itself, but everything that happens before and leads to it. In Ricardo's case, I can only imagine that he had to convince the skipper of the boat that followed Scallywag and other passengers on board will move away from the boat when they arrive at Lisbonto capture this dark silhouette in the last rays of the sun, but still identify it. This is definitely a winning shot by a great photographer. "
