Lürssen unveils superyacht, upgraded hybrid satellite system from KVH and unveils Vetus electric motor! News from July 26, 2022
New Vetus electric motor to be presented in Sydney
Marine supplier Fenquin Pty Ltd will be showcasing Vetus-Maxwell's new electric propulsion technology at the Sydney International Boat Show this week. Fenquin is an authorized distributor of Vetus-Maxwell products.
At the exhibition from July 28 to August 1, visitors will be able to see the working Vetus E-Line system. At booth 724A, the Fenquin team will be joined by a Vetus-Maxwell representative to answer any questions from boaters interested in powering their boat.
The 48V E-Line series is represented by three models with powers of 5kW, 7kW and 10kW. They provide silent, environmentally friendly sailing with exceptional maneuverability. Compact systems are designed in such a way as to comply with the existing standard and dimensions of propulsion units. Replacing an old diesel engine with a Vetus E-Line will not be a problem on any type of yacht.
The E-Line engine is equipped with an intelligent water-cooled controller. The controller is designed specifically for electric boats. It will allow the user to charge the battery with a 24V charger.
KVH launches hybrid satellite communication system
KVH Industries Inc has launched a new hybrid communications platform. The new platform should greatly simplify the installation of communication systems. Called KVH One, the intelligent hybrid communications platform delivers satellite, cellular and Wi-Fi streams in a single device. Thanks to the new technology, seamless automatic switching between signal sources is possible. So the system will automatically be able to select the fastest from several channels.
A series of three new dome antennas - 37 cm (H30), 60 cm (H60) and 1 m (H90) - fully support multilayer network, 5G and LTE-A cellular, and local Wi-Fi connections to provide global coverage from a single compact antenna.
The hybrid system design is said to reduce overall hardware and installation costs. Maintenance requirements are also expected to be minimized.
New superyacht AHPO by Lürssen
Leading German shipyard Lürssen has announced that it will be presenting AHPO at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022. After launching in November 2021, the yacht spent her first season in the Caribbean. She is currently cruising the Mediterranean. The exhibition will make her debut for the mass audience.
AHPO was created for a loyal client who previously owned an 86m (282ft) Lürssen yacht and needed first class design and engineering. Exterior and interior design were once again entrusted to Nuvolari-Lenard to give the yacht a unique look. Moran Yacht & Ship managed and supervised the project, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the project. At 115 meters (377 feet), AHPO will be the largest yacht on show.
