After a long and very difficult construction period for the last 18 months, the ship was finally completed at the shipyard. VARD Tulcea in Romania. This is a truly memorable day for such a monumental vessel and for the whole world.

REV Ocean not just a private expedition yacht - it is innovative research vesselthat will strive to fill critical science gaps, develop innovative solutions, and connect the science, business and policy sectors to bring about positive change in the world's oceans.

Even 3 years ago, this giant existed only on a sheet of paper, but gradually the project developed into something much more complex and ambitious than it was originally intended.

REV Ocean is a non-profit companyfounded and funded by a Norwegian businessman Kjell Inge Røkke... This fund was created as a result of Rökke's signing of the Giving Pledge in 2017, promising to give over 50% of their fortune for charity... Any profits generated from the activities of this program will be reinvested back into a work program for a healthier ocean.

Taking on the role of ocean pioneers, REV Ocean team goal is to create a positive and measurable impact; motivate and provide a path for future generations. REV Ocean team vision - One Healthy Ocean - forms the basic mantra of the entire organization.

REV Ocean is unlike any other vessel in the world - it is a giant yacht with a noble purpose.

In the coming weeks, the yacht will be towed along the Danube River to the Black Sea, through the Bosphorus to Istanbul, then REV Ocean will cross the Mediterranean, leave the Strait of Gibraltar and finally head for the shipyard VARD in Brattvag, Norway. This journey will take approximately 30-35 days.

Now that the initial stage of the assembly is completedThe team is looking forward to the ship in Norway, where they will focus on installing technical equipment, scientific equipment, research laboratories and all the interesting tools that researchers will use to achieve basic scientific goals.

REV Ocean will become a global vehicle for testing and promoting solutions to current ocean problems.

REV Ocean will be equipped for missions that span the entire marine ecosystem. It will be used by scientists and innovators for “solution-oriented” research that addresses issues such as the impact of CO2 emissions on the ocean, plastic pollution and unsustainable fisheries.

Length of the vessel is 182.9 meters, and its capacity - 55 scientists and 35 crew members. Onboard equipment includes scientific trawls, sonars, laboratories, classrooms and classrooms, a lunar pool or offshore drilling platform (Moonpool), autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and submarines, remotely controlled underwater vehicle (ROV) with a depth of immersion up to 6000 meters and modern communication equipment. It will be the most well-equipped scientific ship at sea.
