The largest professional yacht exhibition METSTRADE 2023 recently ended. Interparus sums up the results of the event!
About METSTRADE in a nutshell
METSTRADE (Marine Equipment Trade Show) is a major annual exhibition dedicated to equipment and technologies from the shipbuilding sector and the marine industry. METS is held at RAI Amsterdam, in the city of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. RAI Amsterdam is a large congress center and exhibition complex.
The exhibition is held primarily by “professionals for professionals.” However, this does not mean that ordinary yachtsmen will not be interested in the exhibition. Usually this is where all the most interesting new yacht equipment is presented.
In addition, METS also hosts business forums and conferences, where industry experts discuss current industry issues.
METSTRADE 2023 results
The 2023 edition was particularly noteworthy for two reasons. Firstly, METS is celebrating its anniversary – the exhibition is 35 years old! Secondly, the event broke its attendance record.
METS had over 1,540 exhibitors in 2023. Particularly important is the fact that among the exhibitors there were about 240 new companies. If we speak in the language of hard facts, then this year about 15% percent of all companies were absolute newcomers to the industry. Experts say the industry is more open than ever to young professionals and startups.
By the way, about youth - METS and the British marine employment company Marine Resources have joined forces to search for young specialists. The goal is to enrich the industry with fresh personnel. For now, the focus is on millennials and generation Z (young people born after 2000). The industry is closely watching the success and development of youth aged 19 to 35 and what these people can bring to the industry.
Interesting new products
In total, the exhibition featured thousands of pieces of yachting equipment for vessels of all sizes – from 10-meter sailing boats to huge motor yachts. Equipment included navigation systems from Furuno, marine fittings, redesigned Torqueedo outboard engines, RIM steering columns and much more. The Interparus team, headed by Sasha Goron, has compiled an impressive list of as many as 29 interesting new products for the exhibition!
