This week, an updated giant trimaran IDEC SPORT was launched, which was being refurbished at the French shipyard Multiplast for the upcoming round the world race for the Jules Verne Trophy.

New attempt to get the Jules Verne Cup
Launching a maxi-trimaran with a length of 31.50 m marked the beginning of a new campaign in pursuit of the cup Jules Verne... Last year team captain Francis Jouoyon together with his 13 crew members, he was very close to victory, however, difficult weather conditions did not allow the skipper to get the coveted cup. Just a couple of days was not enough for the crew IDEC SPORT in order to break the current record of the team around the world, which belongs to Loic Peyron and his crew in a forty-meter trimaran Banque Populaire V. The record of 45 days 13 hours and 42 minutes was set in 2012 and still remains unbeaten.
January 8, 2016 Francis Jouyon with his team completed the trip around the world for Jules Verne Trophy with a result of 47 days 14 hours 47 minutes. However, the skipper did not despair, but decided by all means to repeat the attempt on his updated high-speed three-hull vessel this year. His entire team believes in success and hopes for a favorable outcome of the race.
The crew plans to set off in mid-November.

New attempt to get the Jules Verne Cup
“The likelihood of a start window before mid-November is extremely low, but you have to be prepared to grab any opportunity if it presents itself. The earlier we start this season, the more favorable the Atlantic crossing can be for us. However, it is impossible to foresee everything in any case. The season is relatively short and ends in February. We can hit the road as soon as the wind allows us. And even if the situation is not ideal, we will take the risk at the most favorable moment. "
