The yachting industry does not stand still – new interesting devices appear every month. Interparus will tell you about three recent innovations in yachting equipment.
Raymarine Alpha Series Chartplotters
Raymarine's new line of smart displays is proudly named the Alpha Series for a reason. The company has been releasing updated versions of its displays on a regular basis, and Raymarine has really nailed it with this iteration.

Alpha Series offers two options of multifunctional displays: 7 and 9 inches with IPS matrix. The display can be used for any tasks, including as a full-fledged chartplotter. However, its capabilities are much wider. The user can independently customize the display of various parameters, appearance and themes, as well as create custom pages with the necessary widgets.

It is especially convenient to choose colors - their fine adjustment will allow you to comfortably use the display at any time of day and at any level of illumination. High contrast and a wide viewing angle also make it possible to better perceive information from the display, especially on bright sunny days.
Another advantage of the Alpha Series is the universal "stuffing" of the device. The displays are equipped with a powerful quad-core processor with a built-in set of spatial orientation and direction of motion sensors. The device has an Android system installed. The device is controlled by a large touch screen.
Smart-Hatch Smart Hinges
Automation was bound to reach yachts sooner or later. It is too early to dream of full automation of processes, but there is one less problem – now you won’t have to run around the yacht and batten down the hatches yourself. Smart-Hatch smart hatch hinges will come to the rescue.

In order for automation to come to your yacht, you need to replace the standard hatch hinges with Smart-Hatch. These hinges have built-in humidity sensors that automatically understand that it has started raining or a lot of water is getting on the deck. After analyzing the situation, Smart-Hatch will close the hatch to prevent water from getting into the saloon and cabins.
The manufacturer thought about safety and left the classic method of closing hatches manually - in case some kind of breakdown occurs with the automated hinges. Another advantage of the system is the ability to control the hinges remotely from the screen of your smartphone or computer.
The loops do not require additional wiring, but they do need to be recharged. The devices are charged from a 12 V or 48 V power source.
Ocean Racing EP life jacket
Mustang Survival recently released a life jacket for avid regatta enthusiasts and professional athletes. The life jacket received the intricate name EP38 Ocean Racing Life Jacket.

Unlike classic life jackets, the Ocean Racing EP has a lower fit, with most of it sitting on the chest rather than the shoulders. Due to this fit, as reviewers from the Sail Magazine website say, the life jacket sits much more comfortably and does not create unnecessary strain on the shoulders. This is especially important if you use the life jacket for several days without stopping.
Thanks to the special weight distribution, turning upside down while in the water in such a vest is extremely problematic. Ocean Racing EP is activated by pressure, not by contact with moisture, so the likelihood of the vest being activated due to dampness is minimal.

The only drawback that reviewers cite is the fact that the vest must be put on over the head, and not like regular vests. However, according to them, the advantages of the life jacket outweigh its only drawback.
