Electric motors continue to capture the market and the attention of boaters. Interparus will talk about a new series of outboard electric motors from ePropulsion, called X.
Development of ePropulsion ideas
The ePropulsion company has been delighting yachtsmen with its advanced developments in the field of electric propulsion for several years now. The company recently announced the release of its new line called X. The series will include as many as three outboard motors designed for yachts of different sizes.

Following modern trends, ePropulsion focuses on the environmental friendliness of new products. In addition, the company continues to develop its concept of clear and intuitive operation. According to ePropulsion, the X Series is suitable for both experienced sailors and absolute beginners due to its ease of operation.
Tom Watson, President of ePropulsion USA, says, “We look forward to the launch of the X Series. This series will set a new standard for what electric outboard propulsion is and can deliver.” So what's so special about ePropulsion X?
Three new engines and their features
The X series will feature three models – X12, X20 and X40. The X12 model has a power of 12 kW, the X20 – 20 kW, and the X40 – as much as 40 kW. One of the main features of the new propulsors will be a special algorithm for the operation of propellers.
ePropulsion developed this algorithm specifically for the new series of its engines. The essence of the algorithm is that the program processes up to 20 input parameters, including rotation speed, water resistance, cavitation and much more to maintain optimal operating mode. This will help extend the life of the screws.

In addition, the engine control system calculates the frequency resonance, the influence of vibration and other external parameters. Due to this, it was possible to significantly reduce the noise level during operation of the outboard engines.
Another feature that many yachtsmen will appreciate is the reduction in engine weight. The X Series is on average 36% lighter than comparable combustion engines and electric motors.
Other ePropulsion Series X Features
The new X-Series engines also offer interesting smart options that should help with boat handling. Thus, the “Hold position” and “Hold direction” functions will help you follow the route more accurately, as well as make turns and turns of the boat or yacht more smoothly.

Another function, “360 motion,” will help the yachtsman carefully turn the boat around its axis without catching anything. The manufacturer promises that such control options will be enough to cover all the needs of the average yachtsman.
The ePropulsion Connectivity Service allows you to connect to your X Series engine using your smartphone and receive real-time operating and system status data. The X Series housing is IP67 certified and is designed for a minimum operating life of 5,000 hours. The X12, X20 and X40 can also be charged via solar panels.

Look forward to more details on these new outboards soon!
