A new technological solution to improve safety when using lithium batteries – cases from iAqua. Interparus will tell you about the first details!
Secure storage and safety on board
In one of our news digests we have already talked about the iAQUA company and the development of special boxes for storing lithium batteries. And now, after almost 10 months, iAQUA finally presented its product to the general public and announced the start of sales.
Let us remind you that the main feature of these boxes is to prevent ignition or damage to lithium batteries, which are more susceptible to fire than other types of batteries. The line of boxes will be called Lithium Safety Store.
The problem of fire in lithium batteries is becoming more pressing as the popularity of batteries of this type grows. Lithium batteries and their derivatives have a good price-quality ratio, but, unfortunately, they are quite demanding in terms of use. Due to fuel cell degradation, as well as simple aging, lithium batteries can ignite.
The main features of the Lithium Safety Store
So, the main feature of the boxes is the prevention of sudden and uncontrolled fires. The box design consists of thick walls about three centimeters thick. The interior lining is made of Kevlar, which was designed specifically to protect against fire and heat. The inside of the box can withstand temperatures of over 500 degrees Celsius!
Following the inner skin is a core made of another specially developed UL94 V-0 rated material.
Reference
UL94 - classification of plastics for flammability. V-0 means self-extinguishing within less than 10 seconds after the flame is removed without the formation of burning droplets.
The purpose of the core is to prevent heat from spreading to the outer layer of the box lining. The outer shell of the Lithium Safety Store is a high-gloss fiberglass material that not only fits perfectly into almost any interior, but also ensures the reliability of the entire case.
All parts of the box are relatively light in weight. At the same time, the Lithium Safety Store is durable and reliable. Even in the event of an internal fire (let’s say that the battery caught fire inside the box), you can safely interact with the case wearing ordinary protective gloves, since the internal protection will prevent the outer part of the box from heating up.
The Lithium Safety Store features side handles and a pair of dual wheels for easy transportation. In addition, the box has 4 non-slip rubberized supports. Another advantage of the case is the durable hinges and locks made of grade 316 stainless steel. Among the know-how, it is worth highlighting several independent warning systems for problems with the battery inside the box.
First, you can connect the box's built-in thermometer to your phone using a wireless connection. Secondly, if you use a modem with a SIM card, the box will also be able to send you a message, but now an SMS, and report the problem. Thirdly, a built-in mini-siren with a volume of 100 decibels. All three warning systems can operate independently of each other.
Deliveries of the new security case will begin in January 2024. We are waiting for the first real reviews!
