Greek Islands: Mediterranean Yacht Cruise
Greece boasts thousands of islands spread over a vast area stretching from the Aegean Sea to the Ionian Sea. Four of the five island groups in Greece are the main cruise areas: Cyclades, Saronic Islands, Ionian Islands and Dodecanese. Each group has its own unique character and charm, making each island interesting to explore along the way. Everywhere, an abundance of archaeological and geological attractions. If you only have 10-14 days to cruise, focus on one island group.
Cyclades Islands or Cyclades (The Cyclades)
Cyclades Are the most popular islands in Greece. Located at a distance of about 70 kilometers from Athens and stretching to the south and east, they can be called the classic Greek islands. The islands soar above the blue sea in the center of the Aegean Sea, adorned with white stucco houses and windmills. The routes are varied: from noisy cities to Mykonos, Paros and Ios, to Santorini islands, and the peaceful islands Folegandros and Amorgos... Ancient city on Delos comparable to Pompeii, and in Milose the geological attractions are breathtaking. In addition, the Cyclades islands have an abundance of pristine white beaches.

Charters usually include at least one mainland port. Routes include both lively places and tranquil islands such as Hydra. Poros or Aegina will be of interest to lovers of nightlife, and quieter harbors are located in the villages Peloponnese... V Epidaurus visit the ancient harbor and theater, as the beaches are not as plentiful as in the Cyclades, but there are many great swimming spots.

What you need to know to plan your trip:
Climate: warm but seasonal. Sunny weather prevails in summer.
Best months for a yacht cruise - from May to October.
Winds: vary depending on the area.
Cyclades: often quite strong winds.
Saronic Islands: more moderate, the islands are protected by the Greek mainland.
Ionian Islands: mostly light winds.
Dodecanese: more moderate, as they are protected by the Turkish mainland. Very strong dry northerly winds are possible in moderate weather, called meltemi, which blow from mid-May to mid-September and dominate the weather in the Aegean Sea. These winds reach their peak in the afternoon, and often subside by nightfall, but sometimes blow continuously for several days. Meltemi pose a danger to sailing yachts, as they appear suddenly in clear weather.
