The new Fountaine Pajot FP 41 marked the beginning of a rethinking of the shipyard's catamaran line. And the first renderings already made it clear that Fountaine Pajot was aiming for serious competition for the attention of customers with other shipyards. In the same size and price range, the FP 41 has several direct competitors, namely the Bali 4.2, Lagoon 42 and Leopard 42.

Especially since this segment is hot: catamarans from 40 to 43 feet (12 to 13.1 m) must be spacious, easy to maneuver, comfortable to cruise and energy efficient. Owners and charter companies expect exactly this. Competition is fierce, and shipyards try to outdo each other in details. But Fountaine Pajot would not be a legendary shipyard if they did not know what to do in such a situation.
Renovated interior and living spaces FP 41
With a length of 12.10 m and a beam of 6.92 m, the FP 41 offers the space of a catamaran with a couple of feet more. Each living or working (helm station) space is built around the idea of free movement between the sections of the catamaran: from the spacious cockpit to the wide saloon - open and bright.

The cockpit measures approximately 17.7 m² and flows smoothly into the saloon (13.5 m²), while separate seating areas on the bow and flybridge provide a sense of freedom on board. The central control station is at a comfortable height on the starboard side. It offers an excellent view, everything overboard is visible, and at the same time, communication remains with the crew in the cockpit or those relaxing above on the flybridge.
Hybrid powertrain and energy independence FP 41
FP 41 is available in two versions: classic with internal combustion engine and electric motor. In both cases, the catamaran has the option of a hybrid drive system with a built-in electric generator, solar panels (up to 2300 W) and a hydrogenerator. Such solutions put FP 41 in the category of catamarans with extremely high autonomy of navigation, which allows for long cruises without calling at ports.

For comparison: Bali 4.2 is heavier (15.9 tons) and not as advanced in terms of energy and environmental friendliness. FP 41 clearly wins in this parameter, leaving competitors behind.
Design Features of FP 41
The FP 41's hull is created using a vacuum infusion process of vinylester resin, and the deck is injection molded (RTM) into a double mold. This allows for a more uniform laminate along both hulls, controlled weight, and increased resistance to osmosis - something that is truly valued in modern yachting.
By comparison, the Leopard 42 is heavier (12.5 t) and built with a more “monolithic” structure, making it less agile under sail. In this aspect, the FP 41 also outperforms its competitors.
Steering post and control FP 41
As on other Fountaine Pajot models, the FP 41's helm station is essentially divided into two small areas: the skipper's station with the wheel and navigation equipment, and, just ahead of him, the sail controls. Three Harken Size 46 winches are within easy reach of the skipper.

Such a convenient arrangement of controls on the FP 41 allows for comfortable control of the catamaran even by a very small crew or even by one person. This approach to the design of the steering post will be especially appreciated by solo cruisers or fans of family cruises, when only one person on board knows how to handle the steering wheel and sails.
Meanwhile, the Leopard 42 offers a covered central flybridge area, which looks substantial but adds weight and complexity. However, the FP 41 remains lighter, more maneuverable and responsive in the waves, with good visibility from the helm.
Hybrid layouts for all occasions
FP 41 has two layouts:
- Maestro - with a spacious master cabin for the owner in the left float + bathroom, as well as 2 cabins for guests in the right float + 1 or 2 bathrooms.
- Quatuor - with four double cabins for charters.

Access to the bow cabins is provided through the forepeaks - a solution that is especially convenient for a professional crew and quick access to the catamaran's saloon. In comparison, the Bali 4.2 emphasizes a fixed foredeck and entry through the central saloon, which sometimes impairs the longitudinal circulation of the crew on board.
Balanced catamaran for long distances
With the FP 41, Fountaine Pajot has created a logical, technologically advanced catamaran capable of confident passage in a wide range of sea conditions. The catamaran’s most important advantages are its strict industrial design, balanced technical solutions and well-thought-out energy efficiency. The FP 41 is a model that is truly worth considering for long-distance cruising.
