A new exciting project is the two-masted ketch Simena from the Ares Yachts shipyard. Interparus shares the first details about the upcoming new product!
A new milestone in the history of Ares Yachts
Ares Yachts is not as widely known as Dufour or Lagoon. It is part of the large and serious Ares Shipyard brand, which is engaged in the development of naval technologies and ships. In 2023, Ares Shipyard presented its new brand - a yacht division called Ares Yachts.

Using Ares Shipyard's manufacturing capabilities, Ares Yachts can focus on creating truly unique designs. One of the first and probably the most important project at the moment is Simena. This is a full-fledged ketch that pays tribute to the bygone “golden” era of yachting.
Ares Yachts recently presented renderings of its creation. Also, according to media reports, most of the work on the building has already been completed!

In general about Simena
The two-masted ketch will be 62 meters in length. As the shipyard itself states: “[Simena] will be made in a classic style and inspired by the “tender era” of sailing.” There will be a full bowsprit on the bow.

The owner and designer of the yacht was Taka Yacht Design. The press release states that the yacht “has a classic appearance with a strong character.” The interior design was handled by Design Unlimited.
Simena interior layout
Mark Tucker, creative director at Design Unlimited, describes Simena's interior spaces as "a relaxed and sophisticated sanctuary suitable for relaxing and entertaining family and friends." The design company relied on modern trends in design, without forgetting the spirit of classic yachting.
The main color palette is wood brown with accents of walnut and brass, as well as neutral shades. In addition to this, genuine leather and fabrics are widely used. The bathrooms, which look more like full-fledged luxury bathrooms, use patterned Calcutta Oro and Patagonia White marble tiles.

Simena can accommodate up to 12 guests in three double and two cabins. The master cabin is equipped with a walk-in closet, separate lounge area and full Jacuzzi. There was also room for crew members. A total of 9 people can work on board.
Technical tricks
Simena is equipped with 220 kW electric motors, which should be sufficient for cruising at a maximum speed of 15 knots using sails. However, Ares Yachts offers to slightly expand the capabilities of the yacht by installing additional diesel engines.

Working simultaneously, electric motors and internal combustion engines are capable of delivering a total power equivalent to 882 kilowatts. The cruising speed of the yacht under sail will be 6 knots. Other features include an electronic propeller control system, which will help better preserve the propellers during active use.
Completion of construction and launching is scheduled for December 2024.

New video on the Interparus channel!
This is a re-release of our trip to the Incidence Sails sail factory. Unfortunately, this video was accidentally erased from our archives after publication, but it contains an exclusive gift from Sasha Goron for the best comment, so we cannot help but restore it. We hope that you will be interested in plunging back into the world of the sail making factory. It was very interesting there.

Breaking obstacles and restrictions. They jump into the pool headlong. With a running start and at full speed. They fall into the arms of such a ghostly, at first glance unrealizable, but quite tangible freedom.
