A good concept is one that is brought to life. Interparus will tell you about the Echo Yachts shipyard and its new project – the largest sailing catamaran on the planet.
New Horizons with Echo Yachts
Leading Australian superyacht builder Echo Yachts recently announced that they are working on a crazy new project. This time, the shipyard is aiming for not just an impressive project, but the largest sailing catamaran of our time.
The new catamaran currently has the working title ASC57. According to the press release, the catamaran will be 57 meters long. For comparison, the previous record holder, Hemisphere, is 44 meters long.

The ASC57 is being developed in collaboration with leading companies in the yachting industry, including designers and engineers. Thus, one of the catamaran’s most striking features will be two DynaRig masts from Southern Spars, and the Dutch from Dykstra Naval Architects will be working on the naval architecture. The catamaran’s floats will be made of aluminum: Echo Yachts will be helped by Australian specialists from One2Three, who specialize in working with aluminum.
According to the company, the catamaran was ordered by an “experienced private owner” back in March 2024. The project became known not so long ago thanks to the presentation and announcement of contracts on cooperation between Echo Yachts and other companies.
Features of ASC57
Let's start with the DynaRig sails and masts. The ASC57 will have two of these masts mounted on the hull-to-hull crossbar. As a reminder, the DynaRig mast system is an effective alternative to the conventional masts and rigging found on modern yachts.
DynaRig has proven itself to be excellent on large yachts, where classic sail control is difficult due to the dimensions of the boat. The system is controlled in one place (usually the steering post), from where it can be controlled by just one crew member. Considering the dimensions of the ASC57, the choice of such a sailing system seems justified.

The yacht's hulls and exterior design will be implemented by Dykstra Naval Architects. Although the company's yachts are stylistically closer to classic boats, the ASC57 will be an excellent opportunity for the company to show its versatility in terms of design.
Even on the concepts, the catamaran looks futuristic. The noses of the floats are inverted, the crossbar has unusual bevels and angles, and the sterns of both floats have direct access to the water. In the same stern there is a lift for small motor boats and yachts. Directly above it there will be a full-fledged helipad.
Large promenade decks are laid along the outer sides of the hulls. The wheelhouse with the steering post, judging by the renderings, is located closer to the bow and is reliably protected from the elements. On the midship bulkhead there is a place for storing tenders and water toys. Closer to the stern there will be a lounge area with sun loungers and sofas. Unfortunately, there are no details about the interior yet.
Technical characteristics of ASC57
The shipyard places great emphasis on the eco-friendliness of the catamaran. The hulls will be made of aluminum - according to the company, even if the catamaran is sent for scrap, the aluminum will be recyclable.

Another feature of the ASC57 will be a regenerative power system, i.e. a system for using energy released during the operation of other systems. A good example is the DynaRig, which will be installed on the catamaran.
The battery pack will be able to recharge itself from the energy produced by the mast system during operation. This approach to using electricity will make the ASC57 even more autonomous and environmentally friendly.
The catamaran will also be equipped with a CPP propulsion system, which maximizes fuel efficiency. However, the ASC57 is capable of cruising solely under sail, which reduces the need for frequent use of engines. The hulls of the new catamaran are designed with aerodynamics in mind, so the streamlined design will save fuel when the engine is needed.
Echo Yachts in a nutshell
Echo Yachts is a wholly owned Australian shipbuilding company, part of Echo Marine Group Pty Ltd. The shipyard designs, builds and services superyachts.

The ASC57 will be the company's first sailing project. The creation of such a catamaran will significantly expand Echo Yachts' experience in building yachts and catamarans. As construction progresses, Echo Yachts promises to release more details about the catamaran.
