Catamarans are perhaps the best choice for long sea and ocean crossings if we are talking about small boats. We continue to review the best catamarans!
In a recent article, we considered two more catamarans - Outremer 51 and 55. Today we will talk about another boat - Discovery Bluewater 50. What is this boat good for?
In outline
Sailing yacht Discovery Bluewater 50 is a cruising catamaran with a length of 15.7 meters. There are 3 passenger cabins and a draft of 1.40 meters.
It is ideal for family walks and a leisurely cruise on the sea or ocean. Softness and ease of control will not leave anyone indifferent!
The catamaran has been produced by the Discovery shipyard since 2017.
The yacht has a fiberglass hull and is CE (A) certified, that is, it is designed for exits to the open sea and ocean. Cost of Discovery Bluewater 50 at the shipyard in the basic configuration excluding taxes from £ 1.4 million.
Luxury and concept
Discovery Bluewater 50 creator Billy Dixon wanted to combine build quality with sleek design. And he did it!
Discovery has gone through three “editions” already. And each of them kept the original idea of the creator. So anyone who is used to monohulls should take this boat into account. It is she who, in terms of its build quality, equipment and control, will make it easier to get used to catamarans.
The peculiarity of this yacht is the smoothness and comfort of handling. She easily goes exactly where she was directed and does not have what is called a “violent disposition”. Calmness and measuredness are about Discovery.
What are the characteristics?
The MK3 model (the last iteration released in 2017) has received a fairly large list of updates. Yes, many of them touch on the design, but some touch on deeper changes.
So, the boat has become more compact. It is lighter by almost one and a half tons of its “older sisters”, and the grotto, on the contrary, has added almost 10 square meters to the area.
In addition, the design of the bow was changed, including the bowsprit. The bimini was also changed. The most interesting thing is that several options for the placement of the galley have been made - the buyer chooses either the galley almost in the bow or in the stern.
