Despite the fact that famous routes are always crowded, avoiding the crowds at the beginning of the season is a completely doable task. At this time, many tourist cities are just beginning to prepare for the season, providing a unique opportunity to spend time in peace and quiet.

The situation is similar with places in marinas: at the height of the season it can be difficult to find a free place for mooring. Some prudent yachtsmen make reservations six months before the planned vacation. To avoid the hustle and bustle and enjoy a more relaxed cruise, consider sailing in the spring or, alternatively, early fall.

Summer in the Balearics and Canaries can be too hot, but in spring there are ideal weather conditions without sweltering heat and overcrowding with tourists. The Seychelles and French Polynesia enjoy a consistently warm climate, offering a tropical paradise experience. What are the disadvantages of spring yachting?

Spring yachting, despite its obvious advantages, also has disadvantages that may come as a surprise to yachtsmen. One of the main problems is the closed tourist infrastructure in early spring. Restaurants, cafes and some other establishments that operate exclusively in season may not be available until the end of March or April. To avoid disappointment, it is better to find out in advance about the opening hours of the desired establishments.

Another drawback is the preparation of berths and marinas for the new season. After the winter break, it takes time to clean, update equipment and put the berths in order, especially in remote areas. In tropical countries, spring weather is more stable and predictable. From the beginning of spring you can expect hot summer days with high humidity and refreshing breezes. This creates ideal sailing conditions, especially for those who prefer warm weather and want to avoid the instability of the European spring.
